SUEZ Water Technologies & Solutions (WTS) is a worldwide leader in water recovery, treatment and reuse. We design and supply a range of water systems, from food and beverage applications, to municipal water, to microelectronics ultrapure water and heavy industrial wastewater treatment. Our portfolio of technologies includes solids-contact clarification, membrane & media filtration, ion exchange, electrolysis, digestion, evaporation, ozone/UV disinfection and more.
The purpose and responsibilities of this role will be to perform in-house Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of piloting equipment prior to shipment to Customer sites. The role will also include executing the Pilot Return Procedure for pilot equipment returning from Customer sites and on-going support of commercial pilot studies. The person in this role will also lead the assembly and maintenance of stationary lab-scale water treatment pilots. This person will oversee the housekeeping organization of the warehouse and outdoor storage areas. This person will be expected to follow and enhance the Environmental, Health and Safety policies and procedures for the site.
The person in this role will require strong mechanical experience including but not limited to the ability to work with various types of pumps, PVC piping and various types of instrumentation equipment. The person in this role will require strong electrical skills including but not limited to the ability to work with motors of 120-600 V, PLCs and control panels. This person will need to be able to work with water and wastewater treatment technologies including and not limited to clarifiers, dissolved air floatation, membrane bioreactors, ultrafiltration, and reverse osmosis.
This position will work closely with the Pilot Equipment Supervisor, Pilot Project Managers and R&D Researchers. The person will be responsible for the quality of the pilot equipment that is shipped to Client's sites and the quality of the pilot equipment used in the Research Laboratory. This position will report to the Global Pilot Engineering Leader.
This person may be required to travel on short trips to Customer sites ( 5 to 10 days) within North America and occasionally overseas. This position will be based in Ashland, VA

Key Responsibilities
- Test all pilot system components (pumps, blowers, instruments, PLC, SCADA, modems, etc.) for functionality prior to deployment to Customer sites
- Test pilot system as closely as possible as it would operate at a Customer site and ensure operability
- Collect and compile the spare parts required for each pilot study
- Pack, crate and prepare pilot system and spare parts for shipment to Customer sites
- Test, repair and put away pilot equipment upon return from Customer sites in manner that allows equipment to be ready for next FAT
- Source components, independently design, assemble and maintain lab-scale stationary pilot equipment
- Maintain a neat, organized and professional Pilot Shop
- Develop and follow Pilot Shop Environmental Health and Safety procedures
Education
- B.Sc. (Engineering or other) or college diploma with water treatment experience preferred
Experience/Requirements
- knowledge of basic and advanced drinking water and wastewater treatment concepts and processes, with 2 years experience preferred
- minimum 5 year practical experience with mechanical and/or electrical equipment, experience with water treatment equipment being preferred
- proficient in standard computer software programs (MSWord, MSExcel, MSPowerpoint, MSOutlook)
- fluency in English (written and verbal) required
- ability to travel within Canada and the USA required, ability to travel to other countries considered an asset
- ability to perform light manual tasks on-site including lifting and using hand and power tools
- a valid driver's license
