Job Overview

Wisconsin Electric Power, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a PG Engineering Specialist in our Milwaukee, Wisconsin location.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for compliance with North-American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Critical Infrastructure Compliance (CIP) regulations and standards and for instituting cyber security best practices for power plant control systems in the power generation business unit. Control systems in Power Generation include Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and Proprietary Turbine Controls. The employee must have the ability to utilize and apply advanced engineering techniques to problem resolutions, evaluations and calculations. This employee will be located in the Milwaukee headquarters and travel between all Power Generation facilities in southeast and central Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan should be expected in addition to attendance at conferences and other business travel.

The PG Senior Engineering Specialist position is part of the PG Associate Engineering Specialist, PG Engineering Specialist, PG Senior Engineering Specialist job family and experience is the determining factor.

Job Responsibilities

Responsible for the Power Generation NERC CIP compliance program at power plants, including functioning as a subject matter expert for NERC CIP audit activities, if required.
Responsible for implementing best practice cyber security measures to protect power plant assets where regulatory requirements do not apply.
Acquire an understanding of the NERC CIP regulations and develop and maintain programs to assure Power Generation is compliant with the requirements.
Lead projects dealing with design and implementation of necessary electronic and physical security systems to protect our controls assets.
Implement and modify policies, procedures and programs such as risk assessment program, incident response plans, backup and recovery plans, security awareness program, patch and anti-malware programs, change management program to support control system reliability, power generation performance and regulatory compliance.
Generate, acquire and organize detailed and accurate documentation of control system schemes and installations to assure compliance and functionality
Perform cyber vulnerability assessments, audits and penetration testing; develop remedies to address deficiencies
Work cross-functionally with subject matter experts (corporate IT cyber security experts, corporate security, power plant engineers, controls engineer or Instrument & Controls technicians) to conduct root cause analysis and develop mitigation procedures, as appropriate.
Participate in the regulation development and promulgation processes administered by NERC and FERC.
Networking and peer sharing within the industry.
Minimum Qualifications

PG Associate Engineering Specialist

The PG Associate Engineering Specialist is an entry level engineering/project management position where prior engineering/project management experience is preferred.
Bachelors Degree Preferred. In lieu of Bachelor's degree, an Associate's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related technical discipline with 3 years of engineering/project management experience will be accepted.

PG Engineering Specialist

The PG Engineering Specialist requires at least two years of relevant experience.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related technical discipline is preferred. In lieu of Bachelor's degree, an Associate's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related technical discipline with 5 years of engineering/project management experience will be accepted.

PG Senior Engineering Specialist

The PG Engineering Specialist requires at least 7 years of relevant experience.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related technical discipline is preferred. In lieu of Bachelor's degree, an Associate's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related technical discipline with 12 years of engineering/project management experience will be accepted.
Preferred Qualifications

Power plant controls cyber security experience or IT security with some experience in the electric power industry.
Understanding of the NERC CIP regulations and working knowledge of compliance strategies.
Experience performing penetration testing and vulnerability assessments
Ability to plan and carry out responsibilities with minimal direction and supervision.
Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic, tactical and operational level.
Must be comfortable with a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks simultaneously, ability to prioritize and engage in long-range planning necessary.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
