JOB SUMMARY

The Painter Helper is responsible for sandblasting, sanding, and priming heavy equipment and parts. The Painter Helper also supports the paint team with other duties and tasks as assigned.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepares surfaces of tanks by applying fillers and resins which may include sanding and contouring surfaces
• Cleans parts surfaces to remove grease, wax, etc.
• Mixes wet and dry gages, in a consistent manner, to apply the proper amount of primer to tanks and parts
• Sprays primer evenly on tank and part surfaces
• Utilizes power washer to remove dust and debris
• Keeps work area, equipment, and tools clean (sweeps debris, collects and disposes of trash, cleans up spills, and puts away cords and tools when not in use
• Documents work completed
• Completes other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

• Must be able to understand and comply with painting procedures (preparation, interior coatings, exterior coatings, etc.)
• Must be able to work well independently and as a member of the team
• Must be able to focus on details
• Must understand and comply with safety and PPE standards
• Must be able to focus on details and manage time efficiently in order to complete tasks according to production schedule

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to work in an outside environment with inclement weather conditions (including heat, cold, wind, dampness, humidity, etc.)
• Must have excellent vision, depth perception, hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and steady hands
• Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move items or bulky objects up to 50 pounds frequently
• Ability to perform the repeated motions of reaching, standing, stooping, kneeling, bending and climbing beside, onto and under a variety of heavy equipment
• Ability to climb and stand on a ladder while using equipment
• Ability to remain in a standing position for extended periods of time
• Ability to lift and hold arms above shoulder level frequently
• Ability to manipulate hand and power tools in areas of limited spaces
• Must be able to work in a loud environment
• May be required to drive a company vehicle on company property

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Must pass a criminal background and submit to preemployment and random drug tests
• Must have own tools
• Must pass a physical and respiratory test
• Must have good attendance
