BHI energy is looking for an Environmental Specialist for a contract opportunity in Salt Lake City, UT. Duties and Responsibilities + Coordinates and ensures company programs and projects are in compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, and areas of concern. + Promotes corporate environmental policy, by educating and assisting employees to seek innovative ways to ensure operational environmental compliance. + Coordinates environmental permitting activities for company facilities. + Develops and conducts environmental compliance training. + Inspects and provides advice on operations, construction, procedures, records, and training. + Ensures compliance with environment requirements prescribed by laws, regulations, company policies, and company procedures. + Provides regulatory interpretations for new and existing environmental regulations. + Coordinates and develops compliance plans for implementing regulatory changes. + Prepares and coordinates reports and registration information to required regulatory agencies. + Conducts analyses, prepares position papers, and prepares compliance manuals on regulatory issues and programs. + Uses electronic databases to analyze and monitor company compliance with regulatory requirements. + Perform other duties as requested or assigned. Job Requirements Qualifications / Education / Experience The ideal candidate will have the following: + 3-4 years directly related experience with a Bachelor's Degree + Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelor + Good working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations specific to the work location + Good working knowledge of environmental operating permits and regulations specific to the work site, if responsible for contracted assets + Working knowledge of DOT hazardous materials shipping, + Hands on experience sampling waste materials, soil, and water, + Expertise in labeling containers in accordance with RCRA and DOT requirements, + Logic and reasoning skills, to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternatives, conclusions, or approaches + Respectful assertiveness, to ensure environmental compliance requirements are met by others, while considering the spirit and letter of the law + Previous experience working with/performing air quality and emissions calculations and reports is preferred Apply now!
