Offshore Wind Renewable Project Manager
$135k - $170k + 25% Bonus
Hybrid in Houston, Brooklyn, or Boston (2 days/week remote)
Must have renewable/wind turbine industry experience
Scope of Position:
The Senior Offshore Project Manager - Foundation // Foundation Manager - Front End is responsible for front end delivery of the wind turbine and offshore substation substructures for the Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind Farm portfolio. The Manager will manage the time, budget, scope, quality, risk, interfaces, safety, and resources within the workstream.
During the front-end delivery (before offtake award), the Manager is responsible for:
Evaluation, comparison, and selection of technologies, project designs, installation methods, and O&M strategies to develop a technical and delivery strategy for the portfolio.
Supporting the development team with the definition of different project design approaches and providing the project design envelope for COP submittal.
Supporting the commercial team with supplier qualification and selection, cost definition and local content evaluation resulting in successful bids.
Ensuring HSSE is proactively managed.
Identifying risks and mitigations and actively managing risks within the workstream and across interfaces.
Understanding the interaction between development, permitting, commercial, engineering, and delivery.
Responsibilities:
Integration Management:
Direct and manage work coordination within the workstream team members on a day-to-day basis
Substructure Design:
Lead the design team and ensure that the design is carried out in compliance with the company best practice, cross portfolio strategy, good industry practices, applicable codes, and standards
Responsible for the execution of the pre-feed and feed design of the substructure
Responsible for the design interfaces
Develop design basis and ensure ability to obtain certification of the substructure
Implementation Management:
Scope Management: Collect requirements, define scope, and define work-breakdown-structure for the workstream
Human Resource Management: Ensure that the individual project members possess the competences and experience to perform their job effectively and supply relevant training if required. Ensure that the members of the workstream groups are given the necessary basic knowledge (area of responsibility, hourly budget, quality requirements, time schedule, etc.) and have the necessary tools, procedures, and project material from similar projects available that enables them to do their work. Responsible for good team cooperation and a high spirit.
Time Management: Manage overall workstream time schedule, including key milestones. Detailed planning of activities and develop schedule. Continuously ensure that workstream is progressing in accordance with schedule.
Cost Management: Document CAPEX and OPEX budget for workstream. Continuous control of workstream budget
Risk Management: Help ensure HAZID/HAZOP and risk assessments are carried out to identify risk and mitigation actions are plan accordingly
Procurement: Support preparation & evaluate of RFIs, tenders, contract negotiations/signing, etc., in cooperation with the Procurement Team
Contract Management: Manage adherence supplier adherence to contract terms and scope
HSSE: Work with HSE Manager, Site Managers, employees, and contractors to perform work within safety management plan, proactively contribute to updating the safety management plan as required
Quality management: Works with the Quality Manager to develop quality management plan for components. Ensure that both team members and contractors comply with the QM-plan and ensure that specifications are met both on products and processes. Collect lessons learnt and ensure implementation of department best practices and company standards. Review of key deliveries from subcontractors. Ensure that expert knowledge and peer reviews are used to the extent necessary. Ensure compliance with internal quality standards for project execution.
Supervision of Others:
No direct reports; Manages Foundations Engineers and contracted consultants
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Naval Architecture or similar. Master's Degree or other advanced degree (JD) desired
Recommended 10 years of relevant work experience within wind and/or offshore sectors
Licensed Professional Engineer strongly preferred
PMP Certification strongly preferred
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
Broad knowledge of the abilities of US and European contractors in offshore wind
Knowledge of cost control philosophy and methodologies, estimating, change management, and document controls procedures required
Advanced knowledge of MS Project application, Visio, Word, Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint
Extensive experience with budgets/scheduling, risk evaluation is a plus
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple primes and subcontractor RFPs and relationships simultaneously
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple people from all types of fields of expertise
Outstanding interpersonal oral and written communication skills required
