Functions in our group include safety, project field management, construction management, quality control, start up and decommissioning and field engineering. Incumbent will be responsible for coordination of the construction on large water/wastewater facility projects for municipal utilities. Initial assignment will be focused on resident engineer responsibilities as engineer's site representative on design-bid-build construction contracts. Key Responsibilities + Observe and document the work of the construction contractor. This includes management of all project correspondence (incoming and outgoing) including but not limited to oral and written communications, RFIs, field directives, clarification letters, submittals, change orders, and progress payments. + Verify the project is constructed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, submittals, and schedule. + Daily personal interactions with clients, design engineers, property owners, contractors and subcontractors, specialty inspectors, and authorities having jurisdiction on the project. + Coordinate with owner for construction contractor's operations and scheduling of utility activities that affect owner's onsite operation and with engineer and owner for start-up and commissioning activities. + Monitor changes of apparent integrity of the site, such as differing subsurface and physical conditions, existing structures, and site-related utilities when such utilities are exposed. + Observe field tests of equipment, structures, and piping, and review the resulting reports, commenting to engineer, as appropriate. + Participate in preconstruction conferences and coordinate/conduct monthly progress and other necessary meetings with contractors, clients, and staff. + Develop project reports as defined by the Black & Veatch scope of work. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations. Work Environment/Physical Demands Physical Demands: • Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds. • Stand, Kneel, Bend, Stoop, Move, and Walk long distances in and around confined, cluttered places, and uneven areas. • See and hear naturally or with correction. • Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with requirements of the job duties. • Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls according to a set procedure. • Requires repetitive movement. • May require work above 5 feet in height. • Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds. • Work up to a 12 hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.
