Job Overview
It's an exciting time to be in the marine business and Elliott Bay Design Group (EBDG) is seeking a qualified Naval Architect to join its team of professionals. The ideal candidate will have a degree Naval Architecture or Engineering, and assist in leading our team design for and support our clients across the United States.

You will be working closely with a team of experienced naval architects, marine engineers, and marine designers.

Responsibilities:
- Lead design and evolution of modern low and zero-emission technologies across a broad range of vessel types.
- Design all aspects of shipboard systems including equipment sizing and selection and the design of fire and sprinkler systems, cargo piping, bilge and ballast systems, HVAC, main propulsion and rudders and steering systems.
- Perform activities such as inspecting, testing and troubleshooting shipboard mechanical systems.
- Ensure all USCG inspected vessel regulations, SOLAS, MARPOL and class society rules are followed.
- Develop contract technical specifications, purchase specifications and test and trials memos for new vessel design, and existing vessel modifications and repair.

- Bachelor's of Science degree from ABET accredited curriculum
- P.E. license
- Maintain membership in SNAME, ASME, ASCE, or IEE
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and evaluate data & to develop ideas
- Attention to detail
- Ability to conduct research, and prepare and write reports
- Mathematical reasoning and problem solving skills
- Ability to work with others as well as independently
- Ability to communicate ideas effectively
- Ten years professional experience as an engineer with a licensed engineering firm or an engineering master's degree from an accredited institution and eight years experience as an engineer with a licensed engineering firm.
- Shall also have accumulated sufficient professional experience in marine construction, ship repair, industrial engineering, industrial hygiene and safety, Coast Guard regulations, classification society rules, and marine transportation to assure adequate skill in marine industry and shipyard operations.
- Primarily office environment, but must be flexible to travel by automobile, airplane, and vessel, and be able to conduct strenuous vessel inspections including climbing ladders and working in confined spaces
