Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Operations Assistant, with leadership from the Assistant Director of Operations and in cooperation with other department staff, is responsible for providing customer support for all Smith School venues (Van Munching Hall in College Park, MD, as well as three-(3) suites in Baltimore, MD, Rockville, MD, and Washington, DC), including but not limited to building operations and requests, facility maintenance and repairs, and all services administered through the Smith Service and Support Center. This position must be a jack-of-all-trades and must be extremely handy with a variety of skill sets and who can execute quality professional work on a variety of tasks, requests, and services for business school facilities. The successful candidate will work a flexible and modifiable schedule including standard business, evening, and weekend hours to support all locations and hours of operation. Must have experience balancing the complex demands and needs of a large customer base in a time-intense work environment for multiple locations. The operations assistant must provide extreme attention to detail, a resourceful approach to problem-solving, and excellent time management skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
Five years progressively responsible experience in the
trade(s) where assigned to include at least two years in a lead or supervisory capacity.

Preferred Education / Experience:
Bachelor's degree desirable with 5 to 7 years of experience working in general operations or building support including basic journeyman or tradesman duties and responsibilities, general repair and maintenance issues, furniture and equipment moves, and assembly repairs.
Graduation from a standard vocational or high school and some experience as a journeyman in one of the applicable trades; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office, and Google Office Suite, and must be able to work with a variety of software programs/systems including scheduling, ticketing, online portals, etc.

Physical Demands
Must be able to lift and sustain at least 70 lbs (furniture, equipment, boxes, etc.). Must be able to move and set up an assortment of furniture, equipment, boxes, containers, etc. Ability to drive a box or pickup truck with a valid driver's license required. Use of multipurpose tools including but not limited to drills, saws, hammers, screwdrivers, basic power tools, etc. Considerable knowledge of the various trades' standard practices, materials, methods, and equipment required. Ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team.
