The Mining Planning & Projects Manager will provide supervision and direction for the pit area, mining process, and mining contractor management. The incumbent will manage current daily and future mining activities, planning and execution of mining and infrastructure installation/relocations, and maintain focus on future and current mine planning, drilling programs and any other general mining-related functions/activities. Will have responsibility for a wide variety of projects by being a single point of contact for the identification, communication, monitoring, and resolution of all issues pertaining to project execution (including scoping, cost estimating, internal approvals, engineering, design, permitting, contracting, construction, inspection, etc.). Must have the ability to handle a number of tasks at one time and work well with a variety of personalities in an effort to achieve successful outcomes. This position will be roughly fifty percent indoor (office) and fifty percent outdoor (in the field) with exposure to varying degrees of hot and cold environments. The candidate must have the physical ability to maneuver throughout the plant and the mine, climb stairs, and work at above-ground elevations. He/she must possess a valid driver's license. Travel will be minimal. Essential Job Functions: During the execution of projects, will be responsible for determining all requirements by identifying and working with stakeholders, researching historical data within the Company and within the industry, and forecasting future requirements. Will employ others to execute the design, but will still retain responsibility for the results by monitoring status and directing the project. This position will be responsible for coordinating the required activities of company and contractor personnel to insure the successful completion of major projects. The Mining Manager shall have significant expertise in several specialty areas. This expertise will enable the incumbent to understand the terminology and requirements of these specialty areas and to be able to resolve or identify/research issues with industry experts. Interface with internal and external stakeholders to ensure all requirements are being met and issues are being identified. Will have significant exposure to various engineering disciplines and be able to recognize when decisions in one area will impact other areas. Internally interface with all stakeholders, assemble information and respond to concerns about materials, the performance of individual components, or the performance of broader systems. Select and implement solutions and communicate the relevant characteristics of that solution to all stakeholders. The Mining Manager shall have significant knowledge of the contracting process and the protections required by the Company. Develop detailed written plans that are consistent with company policies and procedures while meeting environmental, safety, functionality, schedule,and cost requirements Principal Accountabilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following tasks: Provide oversight and management of mining contractors as well as supervision for hourly pit personnel, as required. Maintain accountability for the active and future mining areas, including shared oversight over permitting, drilling, mine planning, and other general mine management functions Develop and implement solutions for projects and ensure that solutions are integrated to all stakeholders in a way that meets stakeholder needs Direct the activities of the company and other personnel to ensure the successful completion of projects Develop project scopes Identify stakeholders Develop design requirements Develop contract specifications Resolve conflicting requirements among stakeholders Develop project cost estimates/plans/schedules/strategies Monitoring progress against cost estimates/plans/schedules Ensure project obligations are met through frequent site visits/observations Report status to stakeholders on a regular basis Communicate key issues to stakeholders as needed Recommend and take corrective actions as required to ensure project success Additional duties as assigned Required Education, Experience, and Skills: Bachelors' Degree in Engineering or Engineering-related degree Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred Minimum 10 years job-related experience Demonstrated proficiency using word processing and spreadsheet software Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills Demonstrated project management skills and abilities Demonstrated proficiency with contracting processes and issues Physical Requirements Able to endure long periods of sitting and standing Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
