Job Summary:
The Electrical Subsystems Directorate (ESD), Electro-Optical (EO) Products and Technologies Department is currently seeking a Cryogenics Systems Design Engineer with design and analysis skills, experience in cryogenics systems, component fabrication, and testing. Chosen team member will work with multi-discipline teams supporting military programs in the development and production phases of infrared sensor systems.
Assignments may include design and analysis of high-pressure gas supply assemblies, Joule-Thompson coolers, Stirling coolers, Dewar design, Ultra High Vacuum (UHV) Hermetic vessels and sealing techniques, working closely with component suppliers, troubleshooting EO Cryogenic systems, and providing solutions to a variety of EO Cryogenic problems of moderate scope and complexity. Candidate should have prior experience, capable of leading small teams and working closely with Integrated Product Team Leads/Program Managers ensuring engineering requirements are defined, risks are managed, and schedules/budgets are met.
Candidate will work under limited supervision while exercising responsibility in determining and meeting the technical, financial, and schedule objectives of projects. As a Cryogenics Systems Engineer, decisions are data driven in nature and require preparing technical justification analysis reports as well as presenting to a variety of Engineering and Program Review Boards.

Qualifications You Must Have:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering/Physics
- Minimum 5 years related work experience
- Experience in Thermodynamic and Heat Transfer Analysis
- Experience in Structural Analysis
- Working experience with Pro/Engineer and/or CREO
- Experience with fluid, pneumatic, vacuum, cryogenics systems design, analysis, or fabrication
The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
