We are currently seeking a Mill Operations Assistant Shift Supervisor to join our team. This is a full time 6 month contract role at our Atlantic Operations Touquoy mine in Middle Musquodoboit. This opportunity is offered on a 4 days on, 4 days off schedule working 12 hour rotational shifts. Reporting to the Mill Operations Shift Supervisor, your role will be responsible for covering the daily activities of mill operators when away from their duties. Ensuring safety, efficiency and quality of work in different areas including crushing, grinding, gravity, high intensive leach, CIL, elution, carbon regeneration, cyanide detoxification, mill reagents mixing and preparation, mill control room, mill plant and instrument air systems, raw water/reclaim process water systems, effluent treatment plant, and the tailings management facility.
The Opportunity:
Training Mill Operators in all tasks assigned to them, check that work is being done safely and resolving any unsafe acts and conditions.
Ensuring that only authorized and adequately trained workers operate tools and equipment or use hazardous chemicals like cyanide, hydrochloric acid, hydrated lime, etc.
Performing Lock out/Tag out and Try out isolations in accordance with the company's energy isolation procedures.
Following security procedures to protect company assets.
Inspecting the tailings management facility during the shift.
Identifying workers with performance issues that could affect safety at the worksite.
Following up with accident prevention training where necessary.
Covering for Mill Operators when the Mill Operators are away from their duties.
Inspecting each operating circuit during the course of every shift.
Assisting Mill Operators in troubleshooting operational, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation issues to avoid downtime.
Ensuring that all circuits are being operated according to KPIs.
Reviewing circuit check sheets and circuit log sheets take corrective action if needed to maintain KPIs.
Preparing shift production reports, submitting work requests to maintenance planner, filling out purchase requisitions, maintenance of mill supplies, inventory mill reagents and grinding media to ensure minimum/maximum level of supply at all times.
Managing Mill Operators attendance record and submitting to payroll.

Experience with crushing, grinding, gravity, intensive leach reactors, carbon in leach, elution, carbon regeneration, cyanide detoxification, mill reagents mixing and preparation, mill control room, mill plant and instrument air systems, raw water/reclaim process water systems, effluent treatment plant, and the tailings management facility.
Strong time management, decision making, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Familiar with provincial, industry and local health and safety, and environmental regulations, as they relate to processing and mining operations.
Ability to pass a background check.
Valid Drivers License.
