Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a System Engineering Safety Section Manager to be located in Palmdale, CA reporting directly to the SE Department Manager. The Section Manager is responsible for managing a section of System Safety Engineers (15-18% of the time) while continuing to excel in a program role (85-90% or the time). As a member of the Mission System Engineering functional management team, the Section Manager participates in selected Specialty Engineering activities such as staffing, recruiting, employee development, performance management, process and product development, Independent Review Teams (IRT), and on occasion special initiatives. Sections will have approximately 15 members and include personnel that range in grade from T01 to T05. Essential functions: Support proposal work, independent technical reviews, program standup and audits, and special assignments on an as needed basis Provide strong leadership, excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and collaboration with senior management, peers, and employees. Previous experience in a leadership and management role within an Engineering discipline is required. Responsible for recruiting, staffing and retaining top talent to ensure success for all PAICoE programs. Own and lead improvements across employee engagement, hiring, development and training. Basic Qualifications: BS degree in Engineering or other related STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline is and a minimum of 9 years of experience in System or Software Safety Engineering Must have an active Secret clearance and ability to obtain Program Access. Recognized Career development and mentoring of employees Preferred Qualifications: An MS degree in Engineering or other STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline is preferred. Candidates must have a strong background in system safety analysis and an excellent knowledge in system safety tools and methods. Experience with the both manned and unmanned aircraft systems is required. Experience in Reliability, Human Factors is preferred. Salary Range: $143,500.00 - $215,300.00 Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
