The Cloud Operations (CloudOps)/Site Reliability Engineering team ensures that NetApp's portfolio of Cloud Data Services delivers the availability and performance our customers' cloud-based workloads demand, at a global scale and with leadership efficiency, resiliency, and security.
We are working on Project Astra, which is NetApp's new enterprise-class offering delivering end-to-end application data lifecycle management for cloud native applications hosted on Kubernetes clusters. Our scale-out, software defined, distributed system provides the data service at the heart of Project Astra.
As an SRE Manager, you will engage in and improve the lifecycle of Astra services - from design to deployment, operation, and refinement. You will maintain services by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health. You will play an important role in scaling systems sustainably through automation and evolving them by pushing for changes to improve reliability and velocity. Job Requirements
What you will do:
- Provide leadership for a team of engineers who own the reliability goals of availability, performance, and security of our Cloud Data Services offerings.
- Attract and acquire operationally minded individuals that are skilled in automation, operations and thrive in a DevOps culture.
- Develop the team mission, roadmap, clear targets, and milestones to motivate and ensure accountability for delivery on the business needs.
- Support personal and career development of your team through active coaching, mentoring and aligning opportunities with skillsets.
- Foster trust & alignment across teams to collaborate effectively across teams and partners to achieve NetApp's goals.
- Drive excellence for reliability through building tooling to solve reliability challenges, designing efficient and standardized processes, relentless automation, engineering reliability back into applications, and maximizing performance.
- Drive architectural/technical service improvements.
- Dive deep into availability, performance, and scalability issues/outages for services and provide technical leadership for immediate and proactive resolutions.
- Architect, review, develop and deliver applications to improve availability, scalability, performance, and efficiency of NetApp Cloud services.
- Ensure alignment and execution across Development, Support, and Cloud Operations
- Manage on-call rotations and provide inputs to your team and partners to sustain SLAs.
- Security and compliance experience (ISO2701 / SOC2 / FedRAMP / etc.) highly desirable
Education
- Manage Regional rollout strategies
- Ensure Hardware break-fix handled within expected SLAs for Astra
- Help drive Security Operations as a Service (SOCaaS) for Astra
- Help manage drive SLAs for availability, Monitoring, capacity, and incident management
- Bachelor's or Graduate's Degree in computer engineering, science, engineering or information systems management, or equivalent experience.
- Experience managing a team of at least 5-8 engineers.
- Experience with source control and continuous integration tools: Git/Stash, Bitbucket, Jenkins, etc
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of development, debugging, administration, and automation frameworks: Go, Perl, Python, Ansible, etc.
- Worked on large-scale distributed systems including multi-tiered architecture.
- Demonstrable knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP, application security, networking, monitoring, and storage.
- Deep working Knowledge on Containers, Kubernetes, Serverless computing implementation.
- Familiarity with distributed systems design patterns using tools such as Kubernetes.
- Proficient in one or more cloud providers, i.e., Azure
