Job Overview

The Engineer will design industrial steel buildings utilizing Metal Building Software (MBS) or have experience in software for structural analysis or design such as STAAD.PRO, RISA, SAP2000 or GT Strudl.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Consults with and provides guidance to project stakeholders and managerial staff regarding engineering requirements for the construction of various buildings in the industrial marketplace.
  • Uses design software to accurately render and communicate designs; plans and designs other necessary and related systems for unique steel buildings.
  • Collaborates with Engineering/Drafting/Project Management to ensure projects progress properly.
  • Explore innovative design concepts for custom industrial metal buildings.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Thorough understanding of MBS software, design codes, principles, and practices.
  • Thorough understanding of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings and other related structures.
  • Ability to identify and solve complex problems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be both creative and analytical.
  • Extremely detail-oriented and accurate.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering required.
  • Licensure as professional engineer (PE) in multiple states with the requirements to obtain and maintain licenses throughout the United States.
  • Basic knowledge of building codes such as ASCE, AISC, AISI, ACI, and MBMA.
  • Steel design proficiency in built-up rigid frames, cold-formed secondary, and structural steel.
  • Ability to use building codes for design.


Other Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in metal building design; prefer 10 years of experience.
  • Prolonged periods sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines timely.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Creative.
