The Northrop Grumman Tactical Space Division is a strategic partner specializing in commercial and classified partnerships with the design, delivery, operation and sustainment of satellites and human spacecraft. We support science and space exploration through our various partnerships, including NASA's Artemis program with the goal to return humans to the Moon in 2024 and the TESS (Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite) program that has discovered more than twenty confirmed planets. Job Responsibilities: In this position, you will perform duties contributing to Integration and Test (I&T) activities for space vehicle systems and their supporting hardware. I&T Mechanical Engineers and Techs coordinate and oversee mechanical build and production operations performed by the technical staff. You will support and/or be responsible for developing detailed work instructions or test procedures, providing technical insight to processes, support hardware designs, etc. that adhere to the requirements for the space vehicle being tested. Tasks may include ensuring the work center is set up and all elements are in place for work each day, including maintaining a safe, clean and productive work environment, reporting daily status to I&T Managers, addressing off nominal and non-conforming conditions, creating robust corrective actions and providing mentor guidance to other engineers and support staff. Other duties include testing space flight hardware where it is expected that the systems under test are well understood, and the test constraints and hazards identified to ensure the safety of personnel and the space flight hardware at all times. You must be knowledgeable in aerospace systems, spacecraft subsystems design, or mission operations. You will be working in a team environment where the team will be responsible for all I&T activities for the space vehicle from the generation of work instructions, through test and often including launch activities. You will have the opportunity to interact with many cross functional organizations.

Mechanical Engineers:
Basic Qualifications
  • U.S Citizenship required and must have an active in-scope DoD Top Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access as required.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas; integration, test, mechanical operations, or manufacturing
  • Engineer Level 2: Bachelor's degree in STEM with 2 years of related experience, or a Master's degree in STEM with 0 years of related experience
  • Engineer Level 3: Bachelor's degree in STEM with 5 years of related experience, or a Master's degree in STEM with 3 years of related experience
  • Engineer Level 4: Bachelor's degree in STEM with 9 years of related experience, or a Master's degree in STEM with 7 years of related experience
  • Additional leveling positions not listed on requisition will also be considered
  • Relocation assistance may be available
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Previous experience in space vehicle I&T
  • Demonstrated ability/desire to lead a team of less experienced engineers
  • Practical experience with 5S/FOD, ESD and Six Sigma and/or Lean manufacturing techniques
  • Experience with design modeling and drawing efforts using 3-D modeling tools

Mechanical Technicians:
Basic Qualifications
  • U.S Citizenship required and must have an active in-scope DoD Top Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access as required.
  • Knowledge of Excel, Word, and Power point are required.
  • Understanding of Clean Room requirements, Hazardous Material Handling, Hazardous Operations protocols, and related operational protocols.
  • The ability to support and maintain work areas up to company ESD, FOD and 5S standards.
  • Hands-on knowledge and experience with the use of a variety of hand tools and mechanical equipment with the ability to read, interpret, and execute work to mechanical assembly drawings, wire lists and BOM's.
  • Technician Level 2: Minimum of a High School diploma with 2+ years of related experience
  • Technician Level 3: Minimum of a High School diploma with 4+ years of related experience
  • Technician Level 4: Minimum of a High School diploma with 6+ years of related experience
  • Additional leveling positions not listed on requisition will also be considered
  • Relocation assistance may be available
Preferred Qualifications:
  • SCI or SAP/SAR access
  • Manufacturing experience and certifications with flight wire harnessing, flight soldering, and epoxy bonding/application highly desired
  • Experience with MLI - Thermal Blanket installation desired
  • Solumina MES, TipQA, Windchill, CREOView, and Spacecraft processing knowledge preferred.
  • Experience with critical/hazardous operations a plus.

Salary Range: $60,000 USD - $140,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
