We are seeking a self-starting, motivated Mechanical Engineering Manager 3 to join our dedicated Southern California field site team. This opportunity is located in Ventura, Ca. The team is embedded with customer personnel where we design, develop, test, deliver, and operate advanced prototype, unique marine systems. Position will have managers and individual contributors reporting directly to him/her.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • The candidate shall be well versed on both people management and the execution of technical problem solving.
  • Serve the program as a functional manager and integration engineer.
  • Support a variety of highly-skilled people and unique mechanical equipment designed for marine applications. This involves a broad spectrum of engineering disciplines so a solid foundation in mechanical engineering principles and the design and production process is required to be successful.
  • Work closely with customer personnel and work within challenging schedules.
  • Provide leadership and tasking to exempt and non-exempt team members
  • Execute the performance management cycle
  • Reward and foster culture for employees to learn and grow
  • Report to functional and program management hierarchy
  • Signature authority on all technical and production documentation
  • Drive continuous process improvement on fielded equipment and procedures
  • Provide engineering design and analysis guidance
  • Establish positive relationships with customer leadership
  • Manage engineering timeline to support customer operations schedule
Basic Qualifications:
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM degree and a minimum of 10 years of mechanical engineering design and analysis experience with a solid grasp of engineering principles.
  • Must have an active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • IPT Lead or similar demonstrated technical leadership or management roles
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple functional management and integration engineer responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Good communication skills with individual contributors, the management chain and customer personnel
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD and analysis software
  • Marine or ocean engineering experience
  • Full product lifecycle engineering experience
  • Engineering experience with cranes and weight handling equipment
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic design, component selection and troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of customer quality assurance process
  • MBA or MSME or similar STEM MS

Salary Range: $155,400 USD - $233,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
