Job Overview
Job Title: Mechanical Engineer (Project Management)
Location: The Oilgear Company, Houston, TX
Oilgear manufactures a wide variety or world class hydraulic solutions. These products are used throughout many industries including industrial and oil drilling markets. A large amount of these products are custom engineered solutions that need extensive engineering efforts to be successful.
As an Oilgear Mechanical Engineer, you will be expected to work as part of a team to solve complex fluid power related problems. There will be an emphasis on new product development. In this role, the ideal candidate will be able to collaborate and work as part of an engineering team. They will also spend a portion of their time in a hands-on production environment. The candidate will also be working with customer which sometimes requires travel to their location.
Essential Job Functions:
• Provide support to the production team
• Create and manage to project timelines
• 3D modeling of designs
• Creation of detail drawings for manufacturing
• Simulation used as needed to support technical projects
• Develop and analyze hydraulic components for manufacturability and safety factors
• Be able to take projects from concept to production
• Travel to customer locations is sometimes required
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, Mechanical preferred
• 3+ years Engineering experience
• Experienced with Inventor 3D modeling software
• Strong analytical skills using engineering fundamentals and analysis tools
• Ability to develop and implement specifications
• Experience working with vendors and creating quotes
• Well versed in industry standards (ASTM, ASME, ANSI, ABS, DNV etc....)
• Work experience with hydraulic components preferred
• Technical writing experience
• Customer service focused
• Self-starter and team player
• Able to work under tight timelines and deliver high quality designs to our partners
• Adaptable to changing needs
• Strong communicator both verbally and using PC based tools (PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
• Continuous improvement mindset
• Some travel (5-20%) is required. Travel will be mainly domestic
The Mechanical Engineer will be based in our Houston, TX office. This position will report to the Site Leader.
