JOB DESCRIPTION
W.G. Spencer Engineering is currently looking for an experienced, accomplished, self-motivated and hands-on Mechanical Engineer to maintain and support our industry-leading products and systems in the areas of Mine Hoist Application and Specialty Equipment.
The Mechanical Engineer will work across a variety of functional groups that are directly involved in Project Management, PLC Control, Machine Design, Failure Analysis, Troubleshooting and Commissioning of New Installations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, construction and commissioning of various machine parts
Provide technical guidance, both in office and at the project site, for installation, commissioning, operation, maintenance and testing of mechanical systems
Provides guidance to construction/mining crews to ensure installation in accordance with design intent
Develop engineering project schedules, budgetary estimates, cost and scheduling reports
Lead or participate in multi-discipline teams to solve problems (Complex troubleshooting, Task Analysis Meetings, Technical Operability Evaluations, Engineering Evaluations, Root Cause Investigations, Internal and External Audits, etc.)
Evaluates and reviews all documentation and deliverables such as mechanical calculations, drawings, design verification etc. including equipment vendor deliverables
Lead or participate in development or enhancement to design management and engineering change control programs and procedures
Manage and control projects in an economical and timely manner ensuring adherence to quality control requirements
Act as liaison between W.G. Spencer Engineering personnel, technical groups and outside contractors
Ensure compliance to site standards and all government and corporate regulations in the area of safety, health and environment for all capital project
QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of University degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred or College diploma in Mechanical Engineering with at least 5 years of full-time experience
Registered member of PEO or working towards
Excellent written and oral communication skills including strong presentation and analytical skills
Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization
Effective planning, project management and problem-solving skills
Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively under short deadlines
Valid driver's license and clean driving abstract
ASSETS
Strong knowledge in Microsoft Word
AutoCAD
Experience within the mining industry
