The ideal candidate will identify opportunities in operations to improve productivity by implementing ideas which increase automation and output. They will also contribute to R&D projects when engineering skills are required to support product development and improvements.

Job Details

• Works with operations staff to determine areas of focus for productivity improvement
• Prepare a benefit assessment to include project potential, including analysis of workflow/people requirements/output
• Works to resolve problems and develop design
• Use conceptual sketching and visual aides to express design ideas
• Analyze ROI; if it's a go, create more detailed design
• Create models and prototypes of processes for evaluation
• Prepares detailed drawings and schematics
• Use CAD and other design software to perform tasks
• Works with external suppliers to coordinate necessary materials and services
• Establishes documentation, work instructions, design records, specifications, and facility records
• Supervises installation and implementation of machines/processes
• Facilitates transfer of newly developed process to operations and maintenance by developing SOPs and hands on training in initial stages.
• Evaluates data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications after implementation

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university in engineering or similar discipline with equivalent work experience. A minimum of two years related experience required. Previous experience in pharmaceutical, cosmetic, or food packaging is preferred. Must have previous experience in semi-automated/ automated machine/equipment design, including working with vendors/contractors to bring design to successful operation. Ability to manage projects according to timelines and aligning resources from multiple functions to facilitate project execution. In addition, the ability to build business cases for projects and execute according to budget is highly desirable. Requires ability and experience in creating new designs.
