Job Overview
The NOCO Company is seeking a passionate and driven Mechanical Engineer to assist with product design and development. This position will work closely with senior level Mechanical and Electrical Engineers, Industrial Design and Testing to design products that meet marketing and global safety requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Design production intent components and products using Solidworks 3D CAD and drafting tools.
- Communicate often with Industrial Design team to ensure customer interface requirements are met.
- Work closely with testing department to write test plans, design test fixtures, oversee testing and present results to product development team.
- Read, understand and implement requirements from safety standards (UL, IEC, etc) into product design.
- Communicate manufacturing requirements and changes to global teams and suppliers as it pertains to design, documentation and general support of inspection processes, manufacturing processes and test processes.
- Work with suppliers on cost reduction ideas and opportunities through engineering analysis, product design and product planning.
- Attend manufacturing pilots to ensure product requirements are being met.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
- 3-5 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering field.
- Experience with 3D modeling using Solidworks or similar 3D CAD software.
- Familiar with high volume manufacturing processes such as die casting, plastic injection molding, metal stamping, etc and knowledge of design requirements for each process.
- A working knowledge of common machine shop techniques.
- Strong computer skills with familiarity with Microsoft Office.
- Understanding of design for manufacturing techniques for high volume assembly.
- Ability to read, understand and construct technical drawings. Experience with GD&T is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of electrical concepts.
- Experience with UL, IEC, IP standards is a plus.
