Job Details

The Design Engineer is responsible for developing complete engineered designs for the production of custom products based on existing, improved, and new ideas. This includes improving modeling accuracy, design, drafting standard, design documentation and the feasibility of manufacturing of the product with current operations

Primary Responsibilities

• Follow best practices and industry standards to create or revise products according to customer requirements
• Drive process excellence and root cause corrective actions by initiating and following through with 5-Why Investigations.
• Support Product Development efforts through designing, modeling, and testing prototypes of products.
• Follow an established procedure within the department and other departments including but not limited to any SOP established for product design or production.
• Create standard operating procedures (SOP's) when the opportunity arises and edit established SOP's to accommodate continuous improvement initiatives.
• Participate in continuous improvement meetings and corresponding experience and projects.

Required Skills

• Highly skilled in SolidWorks modeling and detailing.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• An always learning attitude regarding process and designs, as well as industry standards and customer needs
• Highly organized and attentive to tight deadlines with a sharp attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Communicate and work well in routine/unplanned circumstances with Sales, Team Leads, and shop personnel.
