Job Overview
Summary:
Maintains rolling stock by completing preventive maintenance requirements; identifying and repairing or
replacing faulty or suspect parts; identifying operating problems and resolution; test-driving vehicles; charging
and maintaining batteries.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
- Keeps all rolling stock operating by conducting periodic inspections; completing preventive maintenance requirements; identifying and repairing or replacing faulty or suspect parts.
- Repairs rolling stock by listening to operator description of malfunction; conducting tests; identifying operating problems and resolution; repainting vehicles.
- Verifies rolling stock performance by test-driving vehicles.
- Completes rolling stock preparations by charging and maintaining batteries.
- Maintains vehicle maintenance and operational history by initiating and updating records.
- Maintains and up keeps shop; orders necessary parts and consumable supplies; manages budget.
- Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy rolling stock environment by adhering to organization standards and policies, and to legal regulations; alerting others regarding potential concerns.
- Improves rolling stock maintenance job knowledge by attending training sessions; reading technical publications.
- Contributes to rolling stock maintenance and organization success by welcoming related, different, and new requests; helping others accomplish job results.

- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of five years of related experience

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; work in high, precarious places; outdoor weather conditions; extreme cold (non-weather); extreme heat (non-weather), and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather) and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit.
