Mechanical Design Engineer, Vacuum Systems Summary Vapor Technologies, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated, creative Mechanical Design Engineer for the design of vacuum process equipment for thin film deposition. The Mechanical Design Engineer will interface and collaborate closely with other team members and Vapor Technology departments as required to support product development and improvement activities. Vacuum deposition or etch system experience is highly preferred. Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions) Design mechanical systems, and/or specify use of existing systems, apply knowledge and practice with engineering principles. Design machine parts and assemblies using SolidWorks, Solidworks PDM and VaporTech's ERP system. Prepare assembly and detailed drawings. Understands and utilizes GD&T. Perform analysis as necessary to validate design concepts, prepare and perform design reviews. Collaborate with sourcing to work with vendors to select parts and components. Work to budgets and timelines relative to project tasks. Understands system cost considerations and works to present tradeoffs and support decision-making activities. Work on shop floor to resolve design conflicts. Skills, Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or higher. 8+ years of experience. Experience in designing vacuum deposition or etch systems is highly desirable. Must have a proven record of developing designs from concept to product commercialization Proficiency in SolidWorks. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is necessary, thermal modeling ability is desirable. Experience with the SolidWorks Simulation package is preferred. Experience with pneumatics, drive systems, motion and control systems, heat transfer, fixturing is preferred. Project management experience is a plus. Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
