Purpose of PositionThis R&D position works directly with operators, technicians, other engineers, specialists, and vendors in the development and implementation of innovative heat-treat processes. It focuses on process optimization activities to increase capacity, improve process capability, improve quality, and reduce costs. Organizationally, it reports to the Group Leader - Material Development and supports:
  • Quality and manufacturing areas to determine solutions to quality and process related issues,
  • Business Units with new product development, and
  • Other areas of R&D with heat treatment and data analysis expertise. Essential Responsibilities
    • Participate in global and interdisciplinary project teams.
    • Create and maintain project plans and budgets.
    • Develop testing plans as well as designed experiments.
    • Conduct statistical analysis of designed experiments as well as manufacturing data.
    • Develop and conduct sophisticated data analysis of heat treatment related data.
    • Conduct formal presentations of your work to a variety of audiences including management.
    • Assist in the writing of work instructions, process control plans, PFEMAs.
    • Develop ideas for continuous improvement. Technical/Functional Skills Required

      • Entry-level experience in computer programming languages including, but not limited to: VBA, R, Python, SQL, MATLAB, C++, and Java
      • Proficiency in MS PowerPoint and Excel Minimum Qualifications
        • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical & Materials Engineering or Science is preferred, but all other Engineering and related degrees will be considered.
        • Evidence of strong mechanical aptitude with experience in operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting mechanical equipment.
