Job Description

Seeking a mid to senior level Manufacturing Process Engineer for our Pasadena, TX manufacturing location. This position will lead efforts to identify, evaluate and execute significant process improvement programs.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze existing process problems and define robust and innovative solutions with limited oversight.
• Collaborate with other engineers and stakeholders to develop process design scope packages for capital projects, debottlenecking efforts, increases in plant capacity, major operability improvements, improvements in plant HS&E performance, etc.
• Lead and support cost improvement programs (reducing raw material utilizations, energy usage).
• Conduct capital project evaluation, high-level process design, and process commissioning.
• Lead or support environmental projects or quality improvements.
• Perform process evaluation, development, scale-up, design, safety analysis and startup support.
• Provide process support or troubleshooting for major issues requiring in-depth study.
• Interact with multiple internal departments, internal business management and plant management.
• Document technology and know-how to pass on learned knowledge.

Basic Requirements:

• B.S. in Chemical Engineering degree (will also consider MS).
• Strong commitment to safety and operating in an environmentally friendly way.
• Excellent command of material and energy balance calculations.
• Strong command of chemical engineering fundamentals.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a team approach.
• Ability to adapt to changing environment.

Essential Qualifications:

• Minimum of 6+ years but will prefer 8+ years of industry experience including at least two of the following:
  • Significant fundamental chemical process engineering experience.
  • Chemical process modeling experience (AspenPlus, ChemCad).
  • Significant process design experience.
  • Ability to perform relief device design and evaluation.
• Working knowledge of API 520/521 with experience in PSV/PRV system design.
• Detailed design and/or troubleshooting knowledge of some common process equipment such as distillation columns, pumps, heat exchangers, reactors, filters, piping, etc.
• Experience in performing calculations supporting common environmental regulatory programs found in the Houston area.
