SUMMARY: Responsible for diversified duties including troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, installing & configuring production equipment. Inspects & performs regular preventative maintenance per safety, manufacturer's as well as Florida Tile's specifications, diagnoses equipment malfunctions & repairs & makes adjustments as needed with minimal downtime.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensures safe & efficient operation of equipment by regular inspections & completing preventive maintenance requirements on power transmission systems, conveyor systems, hydraulic systems, combustion systems, pneumatic systems, plumbing systems, ventilation systems, refrigeration systems, production machines, etc.
Utilize diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions & engineering specifications as necessary to execute PM's, corrective actions, etc.
Troubleshoot / solve equipment problems / improve reliability & up-time via adjustments, calibrations, installing, aligning, dismantling / removing defective parts, examining form and texture of parts, using hoists, cranes, hand & power tools, testing metrics, etc.
Properly utilize various precision measuring instruments (rules, calipers, micrometers, etc.) to determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts
Adjust functional parts of equipment & control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, straightedges, etc. to achieve optimum equipment performance
Provide efficient emergency/unscheduled repairs on mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, combustion, plumbing, ventilation, refrigeration, etc. equipment as necessary utilizing various hand / power tools & other repair equipment to limit downtime & to prevent damage to the machinery or injuries to personnel
Perform service inspections, tests, calibrations, routine diagnostics, etc. to ensure equipment is operating properly
Fabricate repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation & equipment including milling machine, lathe, drilling, pressing, welding, cutting & grinding equipment, sheet metal forming equipment, etc.
Maintain equipment, parts & supply inventories by periodically checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipate needed equipment, parts & supplies; request part orders.
Skilled in proper lubrication applications.
Utilize computer to maintain records of maintenance activities, process work orders, document test results, etc.
Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, review technical publications, establish personal networks, etc. as necessary.
Document & effectively communicate as necessary in written & verbal form to team-leader, peers, etc. maintenance actions, equipment irregularities, response to general questions & requests, etc.
Comply with all safety, lean manufacturing practices & audit standards
Maintain safe & clean working environment at all times
Work well in a team environment as well as independently as needed, contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Work with outside contractors as necessary
Expected to supply a standard set of maintenance mechanic tools - company will supply specialty tools as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience performing routine & emergency breakdown maintenance
Knowledge of standard preventive & predictive maintenance techniques
Thorough knowledge of proper setup, use & maintenance of pneumatic, hydraulic, combustion, refrigeration, plumbing, ventilation & general mechanical systems
General knowledge of kinematics
Thorough knowledge of safe & proper operation of shop equipment including but not limited to lathe, milling machine, drill press, arbor press, band saw, welding & cutting equipment, sheet-metal fabrication equipment, etc.
Capable of safely & correctly operating various hand, power & specialty tools necessary to conduct maintenance activities
Strong troubleshooting skills; know steps to isolate, diagnose & correct mechanical issues
Experience in general fabrication techniques with metallic & carpentry materials
Strong problem-solving skills; devise solutions to keep equipment working safely & efficiency
Knowledge of proper use of precision measuring devices & electronic testing devices including but not limited to rules, micrometers, calipers, electronic testing devices, laser alignment devices, IR temperature & vibration measuring devices, etc.
Ability to read, interpret & apply as necessary mechanical drawings, blue prints, equipment manuals, parts catalogs, etc.
Strong verbal & written communication skills; interact with peers, team-leaders & prepare maintenance reports
Ability to maintain focus while working individually
Detail oriented with strong organizational & follow-up skills
Strong time management skills
Experience with general computer use including MS Office
Strong critical thinking & creative skills
Ability to manage responsibilities independently
Familiar with general maintenance safety protocols
Available to work extra hours as needed to resolve maintenance issues, cover absences, etc.
Ability to work at high elevations & in confined spaces as necessary
Experience with Lean manufacturing practices preferred
Experience with SAP CMMS preferred
Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) preferred
High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship or an AA degree in mechanical or industrial maintenance or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience.
1-2 years of experience repairing industrial equipment preferred
