The Manager, Systems Engineering is a key part of the Equipment Engineering leadership team. The equipment engineering team provides expertise, service, and support to San Diego Illumina headquarters by maintaining systems at world class levels in a fast paced regulated environment and delivers high level reliability exceeding Illumina's dynamic development and manufacturing demands. The manager will be a subject matter expert with broad experience leading the team to accomplish routing operations, continuous improvement, and projects with energy and enthusiasm. The Manager will work in a dynamic team-oriented environment that supports multiple operations and technologies helping Illumina deliver its highly complex product pipeline in a reliable and sustainable manner. Responsibilities: Is the SAP Plant Maintenance business process lead and ensure proper data governance, data quality and compliance within SAP PM Effectively utilizes direct reports within projects and functional plans as well as the day to day performance Interface and coordinate with Operations, R&D, Facilities, EHS, Quality, Regulatory, among other departments to ensure enterprise asset management systems, metrics, and project activities are on time and meet performance goals Lead and supervise equipment and system management processes, including associated spare parts Lead manufacturing IT maintenance activities Lead team on the deployment of system, process, and compliance improvements, and recommend technology, process improvements and cost savings as part of continuous improvement Oversee and report technical system and process performance Manage content knowledge for the equipment system team Provide leadership and direction to the Systems Engineering team to accomplish all team goals and objectives Provide leadership and guidance on engineering reliability Responsible for CMMS/CCMS system Generate equipment engineering metrics and interface with Senior Management regularly to provide status Takes direction regarding budget and resource allocation. While performing the duties of this job, is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, climb stairs/ladders, kneel, crouch, or wear safety gear. Must regularly lift and / or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds Additional responsibilities may be assigned as determined by Management All listed tasks and responsibilities are deemed as essential functions to this position; however, business conditions may require reasonable accommodations for additional task and responsibilities Requirements: Ability to operate in a fast paced environment and rapidly adapt to changes in priority Advanced analytical skills Demonstrated ability to accomplish goals while working across departments is required Demonstrated ability to successfully lead, coach and mentor direct reports is required Detail-oriented, highly organized and ability to multi-task are essential Experience with engineering reliability tool and process Experience with ERP, MRP, MES, or LIMS systems Experience with SAP PM required Experience working in an ISO 13485 or FDA certified environment required High level problem solving and reasoning skills required Must be a strong communicator, verbal and written, able to effectively lead and influence teams and interface well with the organization Proficient in use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Project management skills is desirable Travel up to 15% Working experience in Life Sciences / Pharmaceutical / Medical Devices industries would be an advantage Supervisory Responsibilities: Ensure employees follow all applicable company policies and procedures.
