Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) is looking for you to join our team as an Engineering Manager 2 based out of Colorado Springs, CO. The successful candidate will be the functional engineering lead for the Independent Research and Development (IRAD) organization, responsible for a staff of 75+ engineers and junior managers. What You'll get to Do: The successful candidate will manage an on-site team providing varied engineering support in Colorado Springs, CO. Management responsibilities are expected to take about 20% of your time, the remaining 80% of your time will be spent providing direct support to one or more programs, contracts, or research and development projects. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Manage a direct team of 10 direct reports, and a larger organization of 75+ Fulfilling functional manager roles to help foster and maintain high levels of engagement among their own team Performing functional manager roles and responsibilities (i.e. staffing, recruiting, timecard approval, performance reviews, etc.) Support Career Development of current talent among team members Interact with internal program leadership and customers on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations and provide guidance and oversight to the employees The successful candidate must be entrepreneurial, a self-starter and have the ability to challenge the status quo. This individual must be customer-focused with proven leadership and excellent communication skills as well as a leader in change management. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) field and leadership/management and 9 years of experience Leadership experience, especially experience as a functional manager Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance Experience working in an Agile development environment with Continuous Integration Active Secret Clearance Preferred Qualifications Prior technical leadership (SW lead, test lead, product owner, scrum master, etc.) Direct supervisory experience and/or significant team leadership Experience making hiring decisions Experience with conducting disciplinary actions Domain experience in Missile Defense, Radars, Space Systems SW development experience in at least one of the following: C, C#, C++, JAVA, or Python Experience with Modeling and Simulation Active Top Secret clearance Salary Range: $130,500.00 - $195,700.00 Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
