For details visit: Key job responsibilities Systems Development Engineering Manager at AWS Direct Connect is responsible for creating and leading the vision for the Systems Development Engineering team. They own roadmap development, planning, and executing against targeted deliverables that achieve the vision and direction. They support their team in owning the design and implementation of config generation systems, build automation systems, and integrating components across a complex tooling ecosystem. They will support network engineering teams in improving service delivery and continually scale the network in an automated fashion. Their team will continuously identify areas of growth within the existing frameworks, tools, and processes to develop technical mechanisms that continuously improve operational excellence. A day in the life In this role, you are empowered to make autonomous decisions that help improve your teams' initiatives and drive the direction with your vision. You are removing roadblocks for engineers and their deliverables. You are coaching and empowering your engineers to help progress their careers through regular one on one conversations. You manage the team's performance and set the metrics to which they deliver against. You ensure your leadership is updated with project status as required. You focus on ensuring engineers develop and implement the right mechanisms that challenge the status quo and ensure automated and scalable solutions are at the forefront of their deliverables. Through your leadership you have a direct impact on the structure, growth, and overall health of your team. You are continuously thinking innovatively about processes and designs and challenge your team about the status quo in order to evolve the existing systems. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics or equivalent relevant industry experience. • Minimum 5 years as the Systems Engineering/DevOps leader in a management role. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Strong systems engineering fundamentals (networking, scripting, UI frameworks, data models, or operating systems). • Experience defining, contributing, and supporting long-term visions and directions. • Experience with Agile engineering practices (Kanban, continuous delivery, etc.). • Experience using AWS is a plus.
