This role is for a Software Engineering Manager on the Job Seeker Frontend Platform team, whose mission is to help product teams at Indeed autonomously and rapidly deliver front-end facing products and experiments. Our platforms are used by Indeed's most high-profile, high-traffic products serving billions of requests per month.
As the engineering manager, you will ensure the team is setup to deliver our platforms effectively. This includes:
Helping your team members grow through close career coaching.
Partnering with product and engineering leaders, as well as customers, to set product direction and goals.
Coaching and providing input to technical leaders on the team about how we can achieve product goals.
Measuring and improving team operational health (e.g. toil reduction, effective processes)
The team is made up of six developers at various levels in their careers, with opportunity to drive team growth where it helps us achieve our mission.
Who You Are
You understand that the best managers serve their teams, removing roadblocks and giving individual contributors autonomy and ownership. You have led engineering teams and earned the respect of talented software developers. You are equally happy talking technical details as you are brainstorming about agile development process and technology career development.
You have experience or at least a strong interest in building systems that are used by more than one product or team. You've probably worked on web applications before, so you understand HTTP and the constraints of the browser and network. At the same time, you're comfortable working anywhere in the stack and have experience deploying and managing production services.
Requirements
7+ years experience in software engineering, including experience managing production systems.
Experience leading a high-performing engineering team including coaching and mentoring developers, helping them improve their skills and grow their careers
Experience building full stack web applications
Be highly collaborative and have worked with cross-functional teams, such as product management, quality assurance, and site reliability.
