Job Description

Provides leadership and support to manufacturing sites in developing implementing and improving Calibration Maintenance programs to minimize losses, achieve "zero" breakdowns, and extend machine lifecycle at the optimal maintenance costs. Manage multiple functions of building operations and maintenance for a facility, campus or portfolio of buildings of significant complexity.

Main Responsibilities:

Establish and execute strategic direction for the maintenance team in alignment with site goals.

Manage all aspects the engineering functional area that provides technical, project, emergency response, troubleshooting and maintenance support for relevant equipment and/or systems.

Assess and recommend cost advantages of alternative metrology practices and develops recommendations to optimize reliability. Places a high priority on developing others through coaching, feedback, and developmental goals.

Develop policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure facilities are designed, operated and maintained in a manner that ensures compliance with GMP, FDA, HS&E, Local, State and National laws/ regulations /policies & procedures.

Develops and recommends strategic management objectives for clients. Reviews various budget reports for multiple value strems. Prepare, monitor and manage capital and operating budgets & forecasts. Plan and monitor appropriate staffing levels and utilization of labor, including overtime.

In conjunction with area Sr. Manager, support and monitors Key Performance Indicators (KPI), the development and implementation of short-, medium- and long-term goals and objectives to achieve operational readiness for each project. Ensuring projects success.

Administers bargaining unit agreement to maintain effective communication with represented contingent; applies company policies.

Collaborating with Project Engineering, participates in the Engineering Work process during design, installation, start-up and acceptance of new and re-purposed assets, to ensure reliability and maintainability. This includes final check out, factory and site acceptance testing assuring adherence to functional specifications and calibration requirements.

Provides support and central leadership to site based Planned Calibration Maintenance (CM) Pillars, transferring knowledge, and building capability. Co-ordinate calibration maintenance activities with Manufacturing, Maintenance, Engineering & Utilities Teams.

Knowledgeable in the following systems: Instrumentation, Process Improvement Methodologies, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Pharmaceutical Processes & Utilities:

  • Data analysis techniques (SPC, Modeling, Fault Tree Analysis, Six Sigma)

  • Root-cause and Root-Cause Failure Analysis (RCA, RCFA)

  • Failure Mode and Effect Criticality Analysis (FMECA)

Foster a culture of continuous improvement through employee selection, training and mentoring while focusing on operational efficiency and the elimination of "non-value added" activities.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required, preferably in an Engineering discipline.

7-10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry with increasing managerial responsibilities. A combination of work/education experience with a minimum of 3 years in Metrology/Instrumentation.

5 years experience in a cGMP manufacturing facility

Up to date knowledge of validation technology, production and management processes within and external to the pharmaceutical industry

A team player with demonstrated initiative and proven problem solving, communication and negotiation skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to establish, enhance and manage customer relationships.

Computer Literacy (SAP, Trackwise, Microsoft Offices, other)
