The Manufacturing Operational Engineer drives the initiation, management, and closure of change initiatives. They provide timely technical and project management support to manufacturing operations and change initiatives for existing processes. The Manufacturing Operational Engineer works cross-functionally to develop and implement technical transfer platform for seamless process transfers across sites.
Key Responsibilities:
Acts as primary interface between Manufacturing Operations and other cross-functional internal partners.
Represents manufacturing operations in cross-functional forums.
Acts as operations representative in the design and implementation of multivariate trending program.
Provides manufacturing input to Bill of Materials creation and revisions.
Knowledgeable on materials used in the manufacturing process.
Gathers feedback from manufacturing operations for process improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
Acts as manufacturing operations process expert in the creation of knowledge management content.
Leads manufacturing operations personnel in the execution of tasks for Product Change Over.
Participates in the implementation of new technologies and products.
Represents manufacturing operations at forums discussing new technologies or process improvements.
Provides support for site assessment of new products, facility fit, and operational capabilities.
Assists in development of harmonized business processes and tools for technical transfer across sites.
Collaborates with Manufacturing Engineering to design, procure, and test equipment and consumables.
Responsible for providing subject matter expertise for development of training modules for new equipment and operations.
Reviews and approves of new functional specifications and user requirement documents.
Authors Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for new equipment, techniques, or processes
Acts as project manager/facilitator for continuous improvement initiatives or participates as defined by project charters.
Participates in the change control process, including as an owner, impact assessor, change action owner, CAPA owner, and response to audit findings.
Provides training and communication of change initiative status to shift personnel.
Leads and participates in complex investigations that require cross-functional coordination, such as process issues, safety or engineering trends.
Skills and Experience:
B.S. in science, engineering or related discipline is highly preferred.
A minimum of 5 years process operations experience in a highly automated biotechnology manufacturing facility subject to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) regulations.
Knowledgeable in multiple facets of biologics technical development, manufacturing and quality
Proven track record of success in biologics technology, technology transfer, process development, and manufacturing operations support.
Demonstrated ability to successfully prioritize multiple activities, including people, business processes and projects.
Demonstrated ability to drive for results and lead innovations
Excellent matrix leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team with dotted-line reporting relationship.
Adaptable to a fast paced, complex, and ever-changing business environment.
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, with cross-functional groups to achieve effective and timely results.
Experience in Lean, Yellow Belt, Agile, Tiers, Six Sigma or other operational excellence methodologies is preferred.
Proficiency with Syncade and DeltaV, and experience with process analytics trending tools, Trackwise, Infinity, Maximo, and SAP preferred.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a state-of-the-art large-scale cell culture manufacturing facility with classified areas requiring appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
This role is eligible for up to 50% work from home, with management approval.
