Job Overview
Position Summary:
The General Manager, Food and Nutrition and Environmental Services, is responsible for successfully coordinating and directing all activities of Outpatient and Inpatient Clinical Nutrition Services, Cafeteria, Vending and Catering services of a 65 bed facility. The General Manager, Food and Nutrition/Environmental Services will be responsible for clinical dietitians, Chef, Food Service Supervisors and Nutrition Aids. Summary of Responsibilities include but not limited to coordinating and monitoring activities of the diet office, and patient meal services. The General Manager, Food and Nutrition/Environmental Services also serve as a nutritional resource person for the department, hospital and the community and act as a liaison between the Food and Nutrition department, medical and nursing staff.
The General Manager, Food and Nutrition and Environmental Services is responsible for the planning, organizing and general management of administrative and operational functions within the Housekeeping and Laundry Services Department. Directs and administers the housekeeping program to maintain the hospital environment in a sanitary, attractive, orderly and safe condition. Ensures that all areas of the hospital have adequate daily supplies of linen that meets all standards of cleanliness set by the organization and state agencies. Establishes and applies department standards and work procedures in accordance with administrative principles and policies.
Education, License & Cert:
Bachelors Degree preferred
Experience:
1. Two years operations experience at the managerial/supervisory level required. Preferably in the areas of Dietary and Environmental Services.
Essential Functions:
1. Assures compliance with all accrediting and regulatory agencies.
2. Directly supervises Environmental Services Staff in performance of their duties. Tours, observes and inspects all areas of the Hospital and Laundry to ensure cleanliness standards, timely and productive work performance, and to ensure that safety, infection control and proper work procedures are followed.
3. Frequently converses with patients, visitors and other staff to ensure adequacy of cleaning and/or linen supply and to identify need for new or increased services. Coordinates and implements plans for any required changes in provided services. Assesses customer survey results meet organization standards
4. Prepares statistical data pertaining to performance and cleanliness standards, annual cleaning projects, supplies/equipment needs, linen usage/inventories and other reports and records as required or requested.
5. Interviews applicants recommends the hiring of new employees in conjunction with Department Director.
6. Adjust daily staffing and workflow of the Environmental Services staff in accordance with patient census, activity levels and laundry productions interruptions from equipment failure.
7.Assists in establishing an ongoing quality assurance program to ensure that all standards (internal and external) are consistently being met.
8. Prepares and monitors budget for Food & Nutrition, Housekeeping and Laundry Departments.
9. Oversees all aspects of the Food & Nutrition Department.
