Job Overview
Engineering Department supports the Manufacturing and Technical Services Departments. Its function is to Design, Procure, Install, Maintain, and Enhance production and facilities equipment required to manufacture product. II. Basic Function: The Capital Project Engineering Manager leads the Site Capital Projects Team and is responsible for leading and maintaining the portfolio of capital projects as specified by the business unit leadership team. This team drives the facility improvement agenda as well as the site capital plan. III. Specific Activities, and Responsibilities: RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: Manage Site Capital Plan. Manage Capital Project hopper. Prioritize and implement projects. Communicate frequently with General Manager, project sponsors and other stakeholders regarding project status, issues and accomplishments Drive compliance with project schedules and initiatives Manage to establish project schedule, scope, and budget. Ensure monthly capital project spend (individually and collectively) aligns with forecast to a range of 90 to 110%. Ensure compliance to Health, Safety, and Environmental responsibilities throughout all areas of responsibility Develop standard processes to evaluate future capital projects Drive continuity and development of standards in Project Engineering to ensure smooth and effective communication flow between internal resources and customers, operational efficiency, and equipment and personnel safety Create and maintain all aspects of equipment design files Develop and synchronize site functions transition through four distinct construction phases (design, build, qualify, validate) Maintain project compliance in accordance with the site quality management system Prioritize and guide engineering resources in the design of new or improved expansion facility and equipment within budget Guide the specification and selection of manufacturing /utility/facility equipment to support site facility / process needs Work with process owners and IT resources to make data available to process owners and the to enable process improvements Develop technical team and organize projects across team efficiently Team Development: Provide career growth and development coaching and support to staff Ensures that direct reports are appropriately trained in the cGMP's, the company policies and produces related to their responsibilities. Addresses and provides any training needs for team. Interview's candidates, evaluates and counsel staff as appropriate, in conjunction with support from Human Resources Recommends, evaluated, and manages external contractors. IV. Knowledge Requirements: Education or Equivalent: BS in Engineering Field MS in Engineering or Business preferred Experience: 7 to 10 years Engineering Project Management experience Minimum 5 years managing and developing technical teams Prior experience with large scale pharmaceutical facility construction, equipment/facility qualification & validation Prior experience managing external vendors Project Budgeting Experience working within a regulated environment Hands-on experience with a combination of process, controls, and equipment engineering is required Knowledge/Skills Requirements: Strong leadership skills with the ability to organize and motivate multi-disciplined personnel to successfully complete complex projects Demonstrate the use of engineering principles to solve complex technical issues Strong Project Management skills Interpersonal skills to encourage effective interactions with peers, contractors, and governing agencies Ability to plan, coordinate, and control work under aggressive timelines Outstanding verbal and written communication skills to communicate with all levels of the organization Must be able to work with a high degree of autonomy Must have strong presentation skills to report regularly on project status against plan / budget Ability to multi-task and demonstrate diplomatic skills. Proficient (excellent) English verbal and written communication skills to convey and receive ideas and instructions to/from others within and outside the organization Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from peers, management, suppliers and customers Strong organizational skills, Proficient skills in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access). Motivated, self-started, team player. Physical/Mental Requirements: Physical Requirements: Individual may be required sit for extended periods. Specific vision requirements include reading of written documents and use of computer monitor screen frequently. Work Schedule: Shifts of 8 or 12 hours in duration. Essential Physical Job Tasks: Completion of administrative duties as indicated by position. Data entry and use of computer user interface tools including mouse, keyboard and any other applicable instruments. Setting up office, desk and workstation for minimal ergonomic risk factors as deemed necessary. Sustaining static postures Sustained sitting at desk or workstation with use of phones, computers and any other office equipment required for specified position. Static stance/standing as required. Lifting and operating in an office environment File/Folder storage with non-repetitive light weightlifting, reaching and forward bending as necessary. Infrequent lifting overhead reaching less than or equal to 15 lbs. with the ability to potentially be able to lift up to 35 lbs and push/pull 40 lbs.
