Position Summary: Ensures the facility is maintained in a clean and sanitary condition and a state of good repair. This position may have supervised / unsupervised contact and or conversational interaction with consumers while working in the residences, day treatments, and habilitation facilities. Essential Accountabilities: Maintains a clean, sanitary environment. Sweeps and mops floors, vacuums rugs, clean windows, dust and polishes furniture, and cleans bathrooms as indicated in the facility maintenance to-do list. Maintains the facility in a state of good repair; paint, plaster, repair furniture and property as needed. Responsible for ensuring that assigned site(s) are in a state of good repair and compliance with all fire and life safety codes by conducting on-site inspections. Responsible for ensuring that emergencies and unsafe conditions at the site(s) are immediately addressed. Maintains landscaping and lawns by utilizing lawn mowers, hedge trimmers, and other various garden equipment. Responsible for raking leaves and ensuring lawns are properly watered and maintained. Keeps sidewalks, yards, stairs, driveways, and steps clean of debris. Duties may require shoveling snow, as well as salting and sanding areas. Responsible for the storage and inventory of all necessary maintenance equipment and submission of required reports. Keeps bathrooms stocked with paper towels, toilet tissue, and soap. Tracks inventory of janitorial supplies and submits required reports. Maintains inventory reports on all materials used. You are required to lift heavy objects on occasion, such as furniture, garbage cans, appliances, etc. Checks air conditioning/heating systems, water heater, pipes for leaks, and other site equipment for signs of wear and tear and alerts the supervisor to the condition. Responsible for ensuring cleaning fluids are mixed and utilized properly. Attend certificate and non-certificate classes as required. Flexible hours during emergencies such as snow/inclement weather, including weekends. Complete facility-specific inspection checklists every month including but not limited to vehicle, fire extinguisher, emergency light, clothes dryer vent, boiler/water temperature, and stair chair/wheelchair lift. Prepares work orders and maintains records of all completed work. Must attend a monthly staff meeting. Keeps appropriate records on all work performed and ensures that all necessary paperwork is completed. May be required to drive to various locations if necessary. Work schedules and locations are subject to change. Qualifications: High school or equivalency diploma or experience in general maintenance work. Hands-on knowledge of plumbing, heating, and air conditioning systems is preferred. A valid NYS Driver's License is required.
