Essential Job Functions - Maintenance Technician

Oversees maintenance of agency owned properties, including general internal maintenance and building grounds

Identifies and initiates completion of repairs when an outside contractor is needed

Respond to staff requests for repairs in a timely manner

Clean and sanitize restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedures.

Clean and sanitize appliances; stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator and water dispenser.

Clean, dust and wipe furniture; sweep, mop or vacuum floors; empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers; empty and clean ash trays and cigarette urns; refill restroom dispensers.

Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools; buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, high pressure washers, high speed buffers and vacuums, brooms, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc.

Wash walls and equipment; use ladders when required in work assignments.

Alerts supervisor to any potentially serious problems with the properties.

Maintains and stocks supplies in breakrooms, assists in maintaining agency inventory.

Secures building when facilities are not in use; checking for unlocked doors and windows, reports any unauthorized occupants, turns off lights.

Wash accessible interior and exterior windows. Clean blinds.

Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies.

Perform general maintenance to property and grounds.

Shovels snow, maintains outside sidewalks, mows and fertilizes lawn, plants and maintains landscaping, trims trees and shrubs. Assists in keeping the outside premises in an orderly condition.

Maintains appropriate certifications and inspections of agency equipment and facilities

Alerts supervisor to any potentially serious problems with properties

Develops and implements annual maintenance schedules for all properties

Safely operates tools and machinery as needed in order to perform maintenance tasks

Requirements: Education/Skill Requirements - Maintenance Tech
  • High School Diploma
  • Two years' experience of property management maintenance. (Preferred)
  • Valid Driver's License
Other Skills/Abilities - Maintenance Tech
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform basic repairs and operate agency equipment
  • Knowledge of HIPAA statute, local building codes, Health Department, Division of Criminal Justice, and other relevant regulatory standards.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills and required software for state and agency reporting
  • Knowledge of and ability to use appropriate communication strategies with agency staff, clients, and business associates
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple job assignments and duties
  • Ability to maintain a valid driver's license
  • Material and Equipment Directly Used (including, but not limited to): Computer, agency vehicles, voicemail, agency equipment and tools.
