Job Overview

Smith Gardens, the largest annual and perennial grower in the Pacific Northwest, has an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Technician 3 to join our team at our Aurora, OR site.

The Aurora site opened in 1997, and is located just 30 minutes south of Portland, Oregon in the beautiful Willamette Valley. The site has 37 acres of greenhouse and 3 acres of field space. In 2013, we added a 3-acre State-of-the-art glass greenhouse which has allowed the facility to repurpose 40,000 gallons of water every day helping to reduce our carbon footprint.

Starting at $23/hr up to $28/hr Depending On Experience

JOB FUNCTION:
Provides daily leadership of maintenance staff for technical production and operations equipment, trouble shooting and repair installation. This role is fundamental in supporting TPM implementation, productivity improvement and loss elimination initiatives across the site.

JOB DUTIES:

Diagnose complex problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
Perform advanced electrical, plumbing maintenance and construction functions.
Perform advanced preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and facilities.
Provide leadership in training, supervising, and developing staff to their full potential.
Ensures staff have access to parts and supplies required to do their jobs.
Communicate repair work in progress with manager.
Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required complex maintenance and service.
Provide manger with feedback regarding employee performance.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Advanced level skills in areas such as: mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
Familiar with TPM, CI and Lean principals & applications
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and in writing, in person, and via phone or radio with all levels of staff.
Bilingual (Spanish) preferred, both verbal and written.
Must be highly motivated and able to work with or without direct supervision.
Excellent organizing and planning skills.
Proficient in MS Office and maintenance software.
Able to provide own hand tools.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:

Three years of manufacturing maintenance experience
An AA degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance a preferred
3 or more years of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, VFD, PLC, experience preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work indoors and outdoors, in seasonal temperatures and conditions.
Willing to work flexible hours, holidays and weekends as required.
Assist manager with maintaining annual inspection records of equipment and general preventative maintenance.
Promote a safe work environment, upholding company safety policies and procedures.
Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
Continuously walk, stand, bend, kneel (and remain working below knee-level) as well as reaching overhead, and from side to side for long periods of time.
Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds consistently with heavier weight necessary at times in an environment that may be hot.
Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
