Job Overview
SUMMARY
This position is responsible for troubleshooting, preventative maintenance and repair of all Assembly, Molding and Stamping area equipment, as well as providing technical and operational support.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Insures that troubleshooting, repairs, adjustments, and general maintenance of all area equipment is completed in a professional and timely manner.
- Insures all safety devices are in place and functional and in compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
- Provides technical support to production personnel to ensure product quality.
- Maintains records and spare parts inventory, consumable parts and miscellaneous items.
- Places orders for necessary parts and supplies.
- Operates hand and power tools and tool room machinery.
- Responsible for the safekeeping of precision measuring instruments and all tools issued to the maintenance area.
- Audits preventative maintenance duties performed by Assembly area personnel.
- Monitors and recommends improvements to the production area as needed.
- Complies with Company and area safety policies and practices.
- Supports and fosters active participation in, and complies with, corporate values as outlined in the Corporate Values and Expectations Handbook and complies with the Management Systems Manual.
- Completes on the job and specialized training as required.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Awareness of job related environmental impacts.
- Assists with special projects coordinated by engineering staff.

JOB SCOPE
This position performs recurring work situations with occasional variations from the norm involving a moderate degree of complexity. This position operates from established and well-known procedures and operates independently with minimal supervision. The impact of errors could result in unnecessary downtime on equipment thereby affecting production schedules and potential delivery of product to customers.
SUPERVISORY/BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITY
This position has no supervisory responsibility.
INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS
Contacts are normally made with others both inside and outside the Company and are usually made with own department staff and Supervisor. Contacts contain some discussion about confidential or sensitive matters and are usually made at Supervisor's request. Of the contacts that are made, 5% are on the phone, 95% are face to face, and 100% are with non-customers.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to stand for majority of shift.
- Must be able to lift and/or carry minimum 40 lbs.
- Must have mobility to with a wide range of motion to include working in awkward physical positions.
- Must be able to work with a wide variety of cleaners, solvents, and lubricants.
- Must understand written and verbal communication in English.
- Must be able to handle multiple and diverse priorities.
REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- All requirements of Level I.
- Minimum two years experience with the maintenance and repair of manual and automated assembly equipment.
- Understanding of PLC's and ladder logic programming.
- Understanding of electronics, pneumatics, and motor controllers.
- Combination of education and experience equivalent to an associates degree in electronic or mechanical technology.
- Demonstrated proficiency with machine room equipment.
- Proven ability to work from blue prints, shop drawings, schematics, sketches, and written instructions.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting skills to locate and resolve electro-mechanical problems.
- Minimum of twelve (12) months training and tenure in a level I position, if applicable.
- Seventy-five percent completion towards an Associates of Science Degree or equivalent.
COMPETENCIES
- Ability to understand and work with PLC's, logic programming, electronics, pneumatics and motor controllers.
- Ability to recognize the need for shifting priorities and cope with unforeseen repairs in a logical and effective manner.
- Ability to display advance measurement and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to identify, control, and order spare parts for equipment.
- Ability to produce good results through interactions with other individuals.
JOB CONDITIONS
This position requires long periods of standing. This position is performed on all shifts during all hours as the department functions around the clock.
