Controls & Maintenance Manager


Full-Time


St. Joe, MI


Provide leadership and supervision to maintenance team. Oversee the preventive/predictive maintenance program. Oversee all functions involving the maintenance of facilities and equipment. Assist the management team in obtaining production, quality, and safety goals in accordance with overall organizational goals.


Facilities Engineer SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:




  • Safety: Ensure a safe and accident-free environment, including leading the lockout/tagout program, Confined Space Entry Program, and Asbestos Training


  • Leadership: Provide leadership, supervision and mentoring to the maintenance team


  • Communication: Coordinate flow of assignments between shifts through updates to Priority Reports, assigning tasks and directing employees. Communicate relevant information about work orders and tasks through preventive/predictive maintenance program


    • Plan, organize and direct project and facility engineering and maintenance activities

    • Assist with the planning, technical execution and implementation of capital projects

    • Assist in other departments as needed and help facilitate cross-functional training opportunities



  • Technical Knowledge: Understands the general operation of CNC machinery and assembly equipment including the tooling, test equipment, fixturing and automation.


  • Troubleshooting: Support the maintenance and all organizational teams in problem solving issues ensuring and maintaining quality standards and productivity. Involving vendors at the appropriate time to aid with support as required


  • Standard Work: Assist in the creation, implementation, and sustainability of standard work


    • Ensures quality standards are understood and maintained, in accordance with ISO: 9001

    • This includes: PM System, Equipment specification/documentation, Work Orders, Asset Identification, Maintenance/Repair Inventory, Workcenter 5S



  • Training: Support the Maintenance and Apprenticeship training system.


    • Facilitate education, training and mentoring to the Maintenance Team. Experienced members involvement with the apprentices education experience will be key

    • Assist the operations team in the evaluation, timing, and coordination of the system

    • Help support quality containment during training periods, following 5C NCM reaction plan



  • Administrative: Prepare/Maintain PM Records, Work Orders, Priority Reports and Vendor Records


    • Ensure a harassment free, nondiscriminatory environment through fair and consistent treatment

    • Supervise and motivate employees through coaching, training, and enforcing the Company work rules. Administer progressive discipline as necessary

    • Evaluate direct report performance, develop, and provide constructive feedback for improvement

    • Lead by example via professional conduct, treating others with respect, and good communication



  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement improvement opportunities


    • Help with project implementations, including representing the Maintenance Team in meetings

    • Work with other Support Staff in training employees on any process changes



Facilities Engineer REQUIREMENTS OF JOB:



  • Team player with strong communication skills, possessing leadership ability & willing to continue learning

  • Strong mechanical aptitude including blueprint reading, bill of materials, and fundamental brake function

  • Lean manufacturing principles (e.g., 5S, kanban, and VSM) along with 8D problem solving techniques

  • Strong basic math skills and strong computer skills: MS Office, CAD, ERP software. Must enter/extract data

  • Strong knowledge of Assembly equipment, workholding, tooling, and gaging systems


Compensation DOE: Up to $100k plus quarterly paid profit sharing bonus.
