Job Overview
We are currently seek a Full Time Maintenance Mechanic I to join our team at The Village at Penn State. This position works in 12 hour shifts.
The Village at Penn State is a premier retirement community located in the Toftrees area of State College.
This position is responsible for carrying overall responsibility for the ongoing maintenance of the facility and its equipment, appearance of The Village grounds, and The Village security. The Maintenance Mechanic I's job duties will include (but are not limited to):
Demonstrate precise knowledge and relevant experience in the operations of maintenance, grounds, and security, as well as an understanding of the role that these services play in meeting the goals of the organization. Communicate (both verbally and in writing) effectively with customers, management, and staff. Demonstrate the ability to work with all employees.
Aid in the planning of preventive maintenance and work with other staff to meet operational goals and customer needs.
Perform assigned duties in the areas of general maintenance; i.e., plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, swimming pool maintenance, construction, preventative maintenance, and repairs. Must be able to maintain and operate The Village's utilities and systems. This includes winter as well as summer maintenance needs.
Perform assigned duties in the areas of grounds and landscape maintenance during all seasons. This includes but is not limited to grass cutting, shrub trimming, tree pruning, weeding, mulching, planting, and fertilizing.
E
ducation and Experience
High school graduate or equivalent.
Previous experience in the above-mentioned job functions.
Skills and abilities
Ability to use various hand tools, sharp tools, ground maintenance equipment, and various vehicles.
Must supply own tool belt with common hand tools including but not limited to hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, wire cutters, etc
Ability to deal with complaints and interact positively with department heads, staff, residents, and visitors.
