Job Overview

PRIMARY ROLE
  • To continuously improve the sites automated controls systems to drive overall Site performance.
  • Implement operational controls / instrumentation upgrades and enhancements
  • Build maintenance and operation's technical capability through controls training
  • Work with integrators to ensure control standards are met
  • Evaluation of plant data monitoring systems to support operational troubleshooting
JOB DUTIES/EXPECTATIONS may include but not limited to items listed below
  • Plan and implement control systems upgrades

a. Work with system integrators on projects and upgrades

b. Co-ordinate with plant to Implement projects/upgrades

c. Execute maintenance and operator training with upgrades and new installs

d. Work with vendors on new products that will improve the sites performance

e. Co-ordinate/implement operational upgrades and enhancements

f. Investigate and correct the sites controls opportunities

  • Develop control systems to support operations and maintenance
  • Develop and maintain Automated controls maintenance program

a. Develop PMs for controls related equipment

- Ensures documentation and verification of all VSD parameters

b. Calibration of all analog input/output devices (PM)

  • Set-up and calibrate control valves and various sensors

c. Maintain backups to all PLCs and OIT applications

- Back-up all OITs including automated Packaging equipment

  • Ensures Packaging Specialist back-ups all PLC applications to include SBPals, BBPals, UACEs, ACPs, & JMPs

d. Insure system software and hardware is current

e. Maintain, secure, and catalogue all software licenses and backups

f. Maintain Data Highway and Ethernet networks

  • Actively involved with controls related issues

a. Receptive to off shift support (emergency calls) including logging in from home.

b. Flexible work schedule to meet business and shift needs

c. Receptive to Overtime as required to meet business needs

d. Troubleshoot PLC and controls system issues (Advance troubleshooting, Plant mechanics are responsible for routine troubleshooting and repair of controls and instrumentation)

e. PID tuning

  • Develop critical spare parts inventory for all PLCs, OITs, and related equipment
  • Provide basic PLC, Instrumentation, and hardware training

a. Effective communication of changes to operations and maintenance

b. Maintain change log or other communication tool

c. Assist in identifying site controls / automation training needs

d. Provide PLC, Controls, Instrumentation training to meet business needs

  • Starfleet Controls Responsibilities

a. Understand and support site Starfleet Control Point initiatives

b. Ensure standards adherence

c. Ensure Green No Debates

  • Continuously expand knowledge and skills to stay proficient with all systems

a. Pursues and accepts personal controls development and training opportunities

b. Maintain mechanic A technical skill requirements

c. Provide plant maintenance support on an exception basis to meet business, resource, or department needs.

OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

QUALIFICATIONS/MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Position will be filled by interview process using the following criteria:

  • Technical Knowledge
  • Technical Knowledge of plant automated controls systems
  • Advance computer experience (hardware set-up and configuration)
  • Networking set-up and configuration (Ethernet, Data HWY, Remote IO, and Control Logic)
  • Data collection and report set-up not limited to, but utilizing the SQL server
  • Proficiency in operator interface terminal screen development
  • Proficiency in logic troubleshooting, programming and design
  • Qualified with skills commensurate with "A" level mechanic
  • 2 years minimum Controls experience
    • Team Skills
  • Effective communication skills for communicating changes
  • Effective coaching skills for training and developing others
  • Works well with other team members at all levels.
