Job Summary

The maintenance excellence planner will facilitate the smooth and efficient operation of the engineering function by assisting the engineering personnel to meet the demands of the business and the production targets. Supports maintenance excellence by planning engineering activities using the company's computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and the facilities helpdesk. This position is crucial in maintaining the compliance of validated systems ensuring that any changes or modifications are documented and actioned.

Job Details

This position is responsible for the following:

  • Execution of the Maintenance Planning program for site equipment and utilities.
  • Support the Plant support engineers with planning and preparing for the equipment maintenance to be performed by having the necessary tools, materials and EHS related permits needed.
  • Implement programs and procedures required to ensure plant maintenance is performed in a compliant manner.
  • Monitor the operation of plant equipment and systems.
  • Maintain a maintenance management system for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment.
  • Track, analyse and improve key Maintenance Excellence Program (MEP) key performance indicators (KPI's) parameters such as asset utilization, maintenance cost, site maintenance compliance, schedule etc.
  • Monitor sufficient inventories of spare parts and maintenance supplies, and initiate reordering when necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to company safety standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Proficient in the use of Computer Management Maintenance system (Maximo).
  • Manage the purchasing for the department to reduce costs and add value.
  • Participate constructively as a member of the dept, keeping everyone informed and proactively share knowledge and expertise within the team.
  • Continuously review the maintenance schedule and manufacturing schedule, and liaise with the engineering team to coordinate execution of maintenance orders.
  • Optimize spares holding to effective levels and ordering and issuing parts when required.
  • Demonstrate commitment towards achieving department targets.
  • Support MEP and other internal / external audits
  • May provide cross training and guidance to new department members.
  • Close contact with personnel within the plant at all levels.
  • Contact with suppliers, external personnel at many levels, customers, external officials.
  • Expected to provide functional expertise to support daily operations.
  • Seeks Managers input when making decisions which affect the area.

Incumbent has full authority to make decisions and/or take action that is required to carry out job duties. Internal requirements include compliance with ethics, environmental health and safety, financial, human resources, cGMP procedures, general business policies, requirements and objectives. The incumbent must be willing to take temporary assignments as required.

Regulated Responsibilities (including cGMP and EHS)

Incumbent is expected to be fully compliant with all criteria established by governmental agencies, Ministry of Health, and legislative requirements including, but not limited to: the FDA, European Community (EC), ISO 13485 - Medical Devices, European Economic Community Medical Device Directive (MDD), Canadian Medical Device Regulations (CMDR), OSHA, Sarbanes-Oxley, EPA, DOT, EEOC, and ADA.

Education and Experience:

Minimum requirements for this position are:

Education / Experience

Associate's degree in any technical field along with relevant experience of no less than 5 years in maintenance execution and / or planning in a manufacturing plant. Experience in Pharmaceutical industry is preferred but not required for this position.

Experience: BT Systems

Strong BT skills required and experience / knowledge in MAXIMO CMMS is highly desired
