Job Overview

Title: Machinery Maintenance Technician

Purpose:
Working under general supervision in the facilities/maintenance group, the machinery maintenance tech is responsible for maintaining equipment and instrumentation in order to optimize performance of production and laboratory operations. Provides instruction and training to co-workers to effectively operate the equipment and optimize equipment performance. Serves as back-up to the Supervisor, Facilities/Maintenance in regards to facilities maintenance and repair. (?)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures optimum performance of production equipment and instrumentation by installing, maintaining, repairing, and modifying components as required and scheduled.
- Performs scheduled maintenance on equipment and instrumentation.
- Maintains the inventory of critical spare parts, materials, and/or tools so that repairs can be made in a timely manner.
- Demonstrates safe, competent operation of equipment by training co-workers with established procedures and techniques.
- Meets with equipment vendors as needed to discuss performance of existing equipment or developing new machinery.
- Participates in yearly internal audit scheduled by QA Manager.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- No direct supervisory responsibility but serves as mentor and trainer to production employees and operators.
- Trains and oversees equipment operation, demonstrates best practices to optimize performance of the equipment.

Work Environment:
- Performs work in all environments within the company: lab, office, and production. Sometimes performs facilities functions outdoors.

Qualifications:
- Education: Associate's degree in related area such as mechanical technician.
- Skills: Requires hands-on mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic skills in order to use manual and automated tools
- Experience: At least 5 years' experience with industrial equipment maintenance of pneumatic equipment.

Physical requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, crouching, and lifting up to xx lbs. Frequently uses a ladder. Exposure to noise, chemicals, toxic materials, odors, etc.
