Job Overview

Machine Operator / Heavy Equipment Operator
FULL-TIME

$20/hr

Operates various pieces of Heavy and On Track Equipment in a safe manner to perform maintenance and construction activities in the repair and rebuilding of track structure.

Operates heavy and on track equipment to compact earth fills, foundation forms, ballast, and finished road materials, according to grade specifications

Replaces materials such as rail, ties, switch components, crossing planks, ballast, and other track materials

Shall PM equipment assigned to operate before use

Operates equipment in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with regulations, policies and procedures

Performs equipment safety and maintenance checks, making emergency adjustments as necessary

Takes actions to avoid potential hazards and obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, and falling objects

Studies instructions, plans, and diagrams to establish work requirements

Drives machines onto truck trailers

Keeps records of material and equipment usage and problems encountered

Compensation: $20-$24 per hour based on experience

Shift start: 6:30AM
Shift length: 10 hours
Monday - Thursday (4x10 hrs)

Qualifications

Must pass drug screen (cannabis included)
Can lift 90 lbs
Must be at least 18+ years old
Railroad industry experience, including track maintenance & construction, is preferred. Track Inspection Guideline Certification is preferred. Must have the ability to read and understand specific documents including schedules, standard railway plans, and specifications.
