Landis C. Deck & Sons/Harrisburg Divisions, of the H&K Group, Inc., is looking for a Lead Estimator to supervise the estimating department and to plan, direct, and coordinate project activities to ensure goals of projects are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters. The ideal candidate is a detail oriented problem solver, able to build and motivate a team.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs all work according to MSHA and H&K Safety policies
• Supervises the estimating department including managing the estimating team, work schedules, and bid deadlines.
• Solicits and maintains positive relationships with potential and current clients.
• Analyzes plans and specifications on various projects to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
• Prepares and submits a quality estimate within the time provided.
• Solicits bids and negotiates contracts with subcontractors.
• Coordinates start date of work between owner and outside superintendent and establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of project and arranges for assignment of project personnel.
• Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies schedules or plans as required. Prepares project reports for management, client, or others.
• Evaluates and prepares pricing for change orders.
• Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule, within prescribed budget, and provides advice to solve problems.
• Follows job costs.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Skills, Education, and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or relevant field from an accredited four-year college or university
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered
• Seven years of experience in Heavy Civil Constriction relevant to this region
• Driver's license and clean driving record
• Effective verbal and written communication
• Proficient computer skills including internet and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and specialized project software
• Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed
• Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)

Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience

• Twelve years of experience in Heavy Civil Constriction relevant to this region
• Certified PE
• OSHA and/or other applicable safety certifications and training
