Job Overview

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Lead Design Release Engineer with design and release 2D and 3D engineering or design documentation to joing our team at Navistar!

In this role, you'll be providing technical and analytical support to the Product and Development Engineering group. You'll be leading a team of wiring design release engineers and/or CAD design engineers, along with Leading one or more wiring or cable programs.

Responsibilities:
Support wiring supply base with design requirements
Responsible for overall packaging, routing, and attachment provisions for wiring or cable designs
Be directly involved in design release process
Generate ideas through Benchmarking, initiate engineering changes for cost reduction, new programs & quality improvement
Creation and execution of dFMEAs and DVPs
Creates, reviews, and updates standard processes and best practices.
Reviews designs for completeness and accuracy
Mentors and guides less-senior employees
Self-driven: Receives minimal guidance, little instruction on day-to-day work, and general instructions on new assignments
Critical thinking: Continuously thinks about proposed solutions and if those meet requirements
Disciplined execution: Follows guidelines and procedures but remains flexible when necessary
Ability to work in a team environment: Gets work done through others by leading less experienced team members
Ability and experience to work with team members working on remote locations

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
At least 5 years of experience in product design/development

OR

Master's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
At least 3 years of experience in product design/development

OR

PhD in Engineering or Engineering Technology
Additional Requirements:
Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)
Desired Skills:
Electrical / Mechanical Engineering degree preferred
Previous experience in leading wiring programs
Good competency in 3D CAD modeling software (NX or similar)
Basic understanding of Dimensioning & Tolerancing
Wire Harnesses 2D Drafting and Design Experience
Unigraphics (preferred) or other solid modeling cad software
Teamcenter
Ability to interface with suppliers for Product Development and manage the overall timing
Ability to interface with cross-functional teams to resolve any issues as the product(s) move to production
Problem solving experience.
Positive Attitude, Ethics and International Values which support our company's values, and a healthy, high performance culture
Experience with designing, concepting, and releasing electrical components
Basic understanding of dimensioning 2D drawings
Excellent oral, written, and communication skills
Ability to prioritize multiple parallel tasks based on program timing and deliverables
High level of computer literacy - Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
