DESCRIPTION: Description

We currently have an immediate opening for a full-time Lead Data Engineer to join our amazing Data Science Team. We are looking for a self-starter, go-getter, and lifelong learner. Our ETL pipelines span multiple source database types (MySQL, Postgres), various AWS services (EC2, SQS, Kinesis, Lambda, S3, Redshift, Redshift Spectrum), custom Python production code, and other third party API sources.

What You'll Do

• Drive the technical direction of future processes and platforms, working with the latest technologies
• Design and implement new data pipelines sourced from third party API sources as well as internal databases
• Maintain, build, and iteratively improve existing data pipelines
• Write efficient code for use in analytical production data pipelines and data processing, preferably in Python
• Create tools, methods, and utilities for improving and maintaining existing pipelines
• Write advanced SQL code for use in databases with multi-million to billion-row tables
• Perform system administrative tasks on Linux machines and various database systems
• Work closely with internal I.T. and Dev teams throughout the process of planning, building, and deployment of new data assets
• Work with various internal departments to gather requirements and provide custom solutions

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Bring It!

• Bachelors in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field or equivalent work experience
• Five years of work experience with key scripting languages, especially Python
• Three or more years of work experience in SQL and/or data architecture
• Demonstrated experience integrating third party API data sources (OAUTH experience a plus)
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Linux systems administration, database administration, and network security
• Good working knowledge and experience working with cloud computing technologies, preferably AWS (Redshift, Redshift Spectrum, EC2, Kinesis, S3, SQS, Lambda, Cloudwatch)
• An excellent understanding of data types, data structures, and database systems and their specific use cases
• Familiarity with with BI tools, such as Looker
• Experience working with collaborative tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Slack
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
