Job Purpose
The Commercial Analyst will:
Provide insight and analysis of renewable project viability in U.S electricity markets across the northeast both quantitatively (financial modeling) and qualitatively (strategy). The overall goal of this team-oriented role will be to enhance the company's ability to explore and develop renewable energy projects in the U.S to meet company objectives. Support development of offtake proposals for Requests for Proposals
Key Accountabilities
• Develop, maintain, and operate financial models for operating and development projects
• Support project development though financial modeling and market analysis
• Conduct valuation and commercial impact analyses of emerging investment and RFP (Request for Proposal) opportunities
• Gather and prepare information on projects to facilitate risk evaluation and decision-making
• Utilize market, competitor and customer intelligence to support relevant teams in the development and enhancements of development opportunities
• Plan priority research and development areas with relevant teams and identify and prioritize key stakeholder groups and individuals according to the project development phase
• Identify the value chain for National Grid's proposition and develop the business model options to enter the market
• Identify, design and implement developments to applicable contractual, commercial and regulatory arrangements. Support the introduction of new services and/or providers to meet the changing requirements
• Research external content, identifying and implementing an approach to increase industry presence
Qualifications
• Minimum: Bachelor's degree and 1-3 years of relevant experience;
• Detail-oriented, quantitative & analytical skills, team-player, with solid communication skills
• Experience working with or in the power sector or leading modeling projects in a consulting or corporate work environment a plus;
• Ability to translate model outputs into business insight & articulate impact of results on the business;
• Some knowledge of US power industry structures, policies, regulations & market fundamentals, including common revenue structures and LMP (Locational Marginal Price) formation;
• Familiarity with recent trends in conventional generation, offshore wind, energy storage, transmission & distributed generation;
