Summary

Assist with the planning, coordinating and directing the Value Creation Program designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards. Develop and modify company quality systems and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Be a role model in projecting and applying The Pacific Group Diamond Philosophy (Productivity, Quality, Excellence and Teamwork) and always promote teamwork.
  • Responsible for assisting with achievement of quality department goals and objectives; strive for continuous improvement on food safety and quality program
  • Implement hazard analysis and Critical Control Points Program (HACCP)
  • Implement FDA, ODA regulations ensuring HACCP, SSOP, COOL Act standards are consistently met.
  • Assist with implementing programs in accordance with GFSI/BRC/SQF standards in order to consistently meet audit requirements.
  • Assist with implementing applicable food safety, quality, legality training
  • Maintain knowledge on environmental and product microbiological testing
  • Be able to conduct traceability exercises and be knowledgeable with the recall process; conduct and coordinate procedures and training when the VCQ Manager is not available.
  • Provide support and direction with customer complaint investigations.
  • Identify, investigate and report on critical quality defects on production processes and products.
  • Determine source of quality variance and specific steps to be taken in correcting the process and product.
  • Collaborate with team to implement programs to make certain vendors are capable of meeting food safety, quality, and regulatory expectations.
  • Participate in other department meetings as necessary.
  • Analyze product quality and take necessary actions during push list and throughout daily tasks.
  • Run periodic quality checks of product being produced in production on daily basis.
  • Identify areas for opportunity throughout the facility and report observations to appropriate team members.
  • Inspect product labels and quality in the production room and storage facilities and record deviations.
  • Oversee product verification and investigations when deviations occur.
  • Prepare and submit reports as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to successfully perform the job.

A. Education and Experience

Required:

  • Minimum of one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

Position work week: Sunday-Thursday

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.
  • Bilingual Spanish a plus

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
