Our employee-owned and multi-disciplined team, is looking for a Civil Engineering Technician to work alongside a team of passionate engineering and planning professionals to provide services to general aviation and commercial airports across the country. As a Civil Engineering Technician, you will be responsible for preparing detailed drawings for rehabilitation and construction of various aviation projects (runways, taxiways, and aprons). You will prepare drawings from a collection of sketches, plans, specifications, and written and verbal instructions using computer-aided drafting programs such as Civil 3D and AutoCAD. You will also frequently perform calculations for project dimensions and elevations as well as compute and tabulate quantities. Primary duties will also include extended periods of field work, which will included the performance of preliminary surveys, construction staking, and construction observation duties. Flexible / hybrid work arrangements (3 days in office / 2 days remote per week) will be considered for self-starter and self-sufficient professionals who have demonstrated an ability to work and/or learn successfully in a remote work environment. Note: To be considered for this position and to perform the assigned responsibilities, the selected candidate must complete and pass all background and security requests required by state and/or federal agencies responsible for aviation operations as a condition of employment. In this position, you will be exposed to adverse weather conditions, loud noise, and work in close proximity to heavy construction equipment. Required Qualifications. Associates Degree in Civil Engineering Technology or related field. Working knowledge of Civil 3D and AutoCAD acquired through academic coursework or on-the-job training. Strong interpersonal skills and effective verbal and written communication skills; Ability to ask questions, engage in discussions with team members, and coordinate the development of construction documentation through collaboration with others. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook). Attention to detail and demonstrated ability or organize and prioritize design tasks. Ability to work outdoors on active construction sites and in close proximity to active airport operations, while carrying up to 40 pounds of surveying equipment, walking over rough terrain, and/or standing for extended periods of time. Ability to travel as needed for construction observations, team meetings, client consultations, site inspections/visits, etc.; Periodic overnight travel for extended periods will be required. Must possess a valid Driver's License with a clean driving record. Preferred Qualifications. Up to five (5) years of experience creating construction documentation for transportation projects (highway design, aviation, municipal, etc.). Previous experience or coursework related to airport planning and design. Previous field experience with construction administration related responsibilities including staking, surveying, inspections, and/or observations. General working knowledge of ArcGIS.
